  • To eat or not to eat?

I'm on OWL rung 1 and still adjusting to an increase in my veggie-intake. Last night I realized that I hadn't eaten much in the way of veggies yesterday. Some, but not much. I waited a couple hours after dinner but still wasn't hungry. Nevertheless, I ended up eating a small serving of asparagus just to get more veggies in my body.

Here's my question: in a situation like that, am I better off not eating anything more since I'm not actually hungry, or is it better to get the veggies in me for carbs/nutrition? Eating when not hungry strikes me as counterintuitive, but I do want to make sure I'm eating as healthily as possible.

    Thanks!

OWL takes a bit of planning. If you are going to find your CCLL and you are going to find out how your body reacts to certain foods, you need to try to plan out your menus so that you can include everyday what you are trying to test. If you have problems with your veggies eat them before meal (with fat) and then eat your protein.

I am not sure what I would do in that situation.

I agree, planning is required. I'm not quite sure what happened yesterday, since I'm usually pretty good about eating my veggies. The synapses must not have been firing properly.

I'm off to eat some veggies right now...

Glad to hear those veggies are being consumed

One of the best things about this WOE is that you aren't hungry like before. If it was me, and you had eaten dinner, six hours had not gone by, if you are not hungry, don't eat. I agree with you on the counterintuitive. I caught myself analyzing my fitday nightly then playing around with it and eating to get the ratios and carb counts right. I stopped that, I eat till I'm satisfied and leave it go at that. I think you will find some days you are more hungry then others and if you average the days, you are right on the mark.

I only eat when I'm hungry... I figure my tummy knows when it's time to eat... (even if it's midnight...)
