  • Day 1 of OWL Rung 2

Well I made it through 2 weeks of OWL Rung 1 and I must say I loved every bite of it. But I am ready to move on to the next step.

Now I am not a big dairy person, so I figured that I would add milk to my coffee 3 times a week (upping my net carbs to 25g) and not on the other 4 days just to see how it goes. I mean 100ml of milk is already 5g Net Carbs (at least the milk I use) so it shouldn't be hard. On those other days I will keep to 20g net carbs (15 or more from veggies). I did enjoy my coffee this morning though. Kind of a strong cafe latte.

Anyway my plan is to see how this week plays out and if I am still losing then I will try adding some yogurt to the days I was not having milk and see how that plays out.

    Rung 2 here I come.

I wouldn't add yogurt on the "non-milk" days unless you know how yogurt affects your body. See if you alternate yogurt and milk and you stop losing weight or start having blood sugar issues, what caused it--the yogurt or the milk or both?

it kind of leaves you in a pickle and you'll have to go back and eliminate one or both and add them in one at a time.

I think what you are saying is making sense to me. Because by the second week milk will not longer be a new food. That is what you mean right?

But that first week when you are trying out milk - you should stay at 25 carbs everyday. The days you are not doing the milk add more veggies to get the 25 carbs.

Yes that is what I meant.

Yeah I was thinking about and I will. I love my veggies and could never get enough.

I wouldn't add yogurt on the "non-milk" days unless you know how yogurt affects your body. See if you alternate yogurt and milk and you stop losing weight or start having blood sugar issues, what caused it--the yogurt or the milk or both?
Like Liv said, by the second week it wouldn't be a new food anymore. If milk does cause a change to my blood sugar or a stall in weight loss then I will go back to veggies and skip this rung. In the past I have had issues with dairy, but for the last 6 or so months nothing to bad. We will see what happens.

Thanks both of you for the support!
