  • Skipping rung 3 question!

Hi there everyone! If you read my previous threads i started OWL Rung 3 and that week i put on 1 1/2 lbs,was going to try them again this week but i dont even really like nuts to be honest.
Would it be ok to skip this rung and move onto the next one?

    Any advice greatly appreciated
    Thanks

Yes that would be OK. Any time you want to skip a rung that is fine. You can come back to the rung later if you then decide you want to try out nuts or seeds.

Are you really not going to do flax seeds? Flax is such a wonderful and versatile product. Have you tried the one minute muffins?
I like to use sesame seeds too with salads and stuff at times.
And I use almond flour for cooking. Nut flours are something to explore when on this rung.

You can find flax seeds in the UK. They are called linseeds.

If you can't find almond flour, you can make your own using a coffee grinder.

          Hi Danni,

As Georgiana says you can get flax (lin)seed in the UK. Shop around though before you buy as the prices vary a lot! They are in most health food shops, and quite a few supermarkets. My local Tescos has them, but they were about £2 a pack more from Tescos than from a local health food shop. Even from one health food shop to another the price varies a lot. I've tried the golden and the 'brown' - I personally like the golden in muffins and flax 'porridge,' and the brown to make crackers, but it's a matter of personal taste.

you should try out almond flour (ground up almonds) - remember not to use too much of it (keep counts in mind) but it's extremely versatile. I use it for "breading" "fried" foods (tons of recipes out there) - but my favorite weekend breakfast treat is almond flour pancakes:

            5 tbsp almond flour
            1 tbsp sour cream
            1 tbsp water
            1 egg
            1/2 tsp baking powder
            1 tsp cooking oil
            1 pkt splenda
optional: 1 splash SF vanilla syrup

Mix all ingredients - cook on stovetop like you would any regular pancake. This comes out to about 7 carbs 3 fiber = 4 g net carbs.

now that i'm past the berries rung, i've also mixed in a few blueberries (again gotta be careful with the carb count here).

I'm not sure, since I'm in the states (indiana) and you're in the UK - so i don't know where in the UK you could get some - other than online (i hear netrition is great) but I also put 2 tbsp of sugar free maple syrup on mine (i get a kind from walmart that is 7 g carbs for 1/4 cup) but i'm sure you could find some if you googled.

Warning though - it IS easy to start adding carbs to this (more berries, too much syrup, etc...) but as long as you're measuring when you make the recipe - you should be good to go! Also, again, this is ONLY a once a week treat for me - usually sunday mornings.
