  • Marcona Almonds from Costco

I usually go to Sams club because it is closer to where I live but this weekend I went to Costco with a friend and his wife.

What I discovered was a brand of Almonds called "Marcona Almonds". They are seasoned with sea salt so they do not have the bite the almonds I regularly eat have but still good for a snack here and there.

What I'm confused by are the Nutrition Facts

Total Carbs per serving = 2g
    Dietary Fiber = 3g

Could that be right? Does that mean these have 0 net carbs? I've just never seen almonds that low before.

    Thanks

    Mike

There may be a difference in brands, but this is what I found: Nutrition Facts and Analysis for Marcona Almonds (1/4 cup)

That looks like 5g total, 3g dietary fiber, 2g sugar, for a net carb count of 2g per ounce?

      Yes.
It may be a European label (from Spain?). In Europe they already deduct the fibre when they give the carbs. So total carbs would be 5 and net carbs would be 2.
Anyways remember that when it comes to nuts there are special rules. We only eat one ounce of almonds (around 24) per day.

Thanks a lot for those responses, yes it is from Spain, so thanks for that, 2 net carbs is what it is then.

I think I'll probably cut out the almonds after these are done, they are ok but I can go without them.

        Thanks

Marcona almonds are a type of almonds grown in Spain. So that's a European label, meaning the total carbs is the "net carbs".

It's good to know that Cosco has marconas! I'm dying to try a recipe for "ajo blanco" the traditional Spanish cold garlic soup. I'll have to drop by and see if my local Cosco has them in stock.
