  • Still searching for my ACE/CCLL

I religiously track my carbs and calories in Fitday and keep a spreadsheet with my totals, along with weight and exercise. After doing a modified OWL (moving up the ladders, but keeping my carbs below 30), I began increasing carbs to finally discover my ACE.
    • The 4 weeks from 1/11 – 2/7 I averaged 35 net carbs/day and lost 4.5 pounds and 1 inch
      The 4 weeks from 2/8 – 3/7 I averaged 45 net carbs/day and lost 2.5 pounds and 4 inches
The 4 weeks from 3/8 – 4/4 (today) I averaged 57 net carbs/day and lost 4 pounds and 6 inches (and that’s after adding grains to my diet over the last month – Orowheat Carb Counting bread, brown rice, All Bran with extra fiber, and oatmeal)

Most days included 20-25 fiber carbs too.

I think that I have a relatively low metabolic resistance since I lost 11 pounds during the first 2-weeks of induction. Based on that, my ACE would be expected to be between 40 and 60 net carbs. I exercise 5 to 6 days a week – treadmill and Curves, plus miscellaneous aerobic tapes and strength training thrown in as time allows. I know the exercise also increases the ACE.

I guess that “by the book” I should keep adding carbs until I find it, but I was thinking that perhaps I should stay at this level for another month or so to give my body time to adjust?? Also since I’ve been happy with 1 pound/week loss, I would like to keep it up for a while rather than risk a temporary delay while I search for my ACE.

    Does this make sense?

You can keep adding by 5 net carbs until you find your CCLL. Let the others weigh in here, but I think you should keep going until you find it. Then you can stay in a daily carb level that you want. I figure it's always good to know what your limit is.

Kudos to you for having an efficient bod (you can always hand over some of that metabolism to me, if you don't want it. )

you forgot to read section in chapter 14 of the CCLL chart that says regular exercisers can have 60-90 CCLL Many of us were over 100 net carbs that were lifting and doing cardio, especially the guys.

You can add more of the rungs you like too but again it is only 5 more a week change. I did rung 1 4 times toget all the veggies I liked. If thre foods get to be too much to eat because of the volume thenyou want to look for carb dense foods to add as your carbs at meal time.

        happy low carbing.
