  • Questions ...

I find that I'm rarely hungry these days. I also have a hard time eating when I'm not hungry. Sometimes force feeding myself makes me ill. Any ideas? When I try to think of something appealing ... I seem to crave fruit or milk. In the past ... before my weight gain ... I usually followed craving like these and felt much better after doing so. Now I can't have these things ... so what to do?

Also, I have had a long history of HYPOglycemia. I would eat some fruit or drink oj when I felt symptoms and things were good. Again ... these are things I can't have. I seem to have problems when I'm trying to exercise at present. I work thru them but sometimes I just feel awful and need to sit or lie down.

Any ideas here?? I'm not really craving any kind of breads or candies ... so that's a good thing ...

    Re: Questions ...

when I have problems and feel like I'm having a Hypoglycemic incident I have some veggies (celery, cucumbers, red peppers are really good because they taste a little sweet) a little deli ham or chicken (whichever I have) and some cream cheese. I drink a large glass of water and wait about 10 - 15 minutes and I'm fine.

When you get to Rung 2 you can have a serving of greek yogurt - that has helped me also -- and Rung 3 you can have peanut butter or 1/4 cup of sunflower seeds....those also help.

As far as not being hungry you still need to eat something to keep your blood sugar steady and not dropping or spiking. You mind is telling you it wants fruit or dairy because that is what it is use to getting. You are retraining your mind and stomach to be different and it will take awhile. Since you aren't hungry enough for a full meal try eating several smaller snack like meals during the day. Your appetite will better after awhile.

An hour before you exercise eat a snack size meal -- a little meat and cheese, some celery with cream cheese, whatever you want but that way you will have something in your stomach while you are exercising and you won't have so many problems.

      Re: Questions ...

Thanks for the advice. I just had a slice of turkey breast rolled up with cream cheese. I'm feeling a bit better ... ready for a salad.
I think you are right about a number of small meals. Looking back, I did better when I ate 5 snack size meals ... always have. I need to make a trip to the grocer and stock up on salad stuff again.
I'm a bit concerned about not moving, weight wise, for almost a week. I have increased my activity level quite a bit ... maybe it's muscle. My thighs seem thinner ... pants are baggy. I just can't seem to dump the belly fat ... aaaarg!
