  • I think I figured it out!

    Earlier this week I told you guys of my sudden weight gain. Well I think I figured it out. I ate almonds (1/2oz) Thursday, by Friday I was up to 178 (another 2lbs from the day before). This shocked me even more. Then Yesterday I was really tired and "bloaty" kind of the way I feel right before my period, just a little achy. So I went to bed at 9 pm, after walking and hanging out with my mother all day, and drinking lots of water. As of this morning I am back down to 174 and my stomach is achy from being so bloated. There for I have come to the conclusion...Me+Nuts=Bloating. I am going to go this coming week without nuts but still eating 30b NET carbs to see if I still lose weight. In total this week I have loosed about 1lb. So still pretty good.

    *Edit: It is a total of 0.6lbs loosed this week...

    Wow.
    This thus goes to show how useful OWL can be. When we test out one food at the time like this we can really learn stuff that we may not have realized before.

      Well I am leaving for a vacation to Austria on Friday so I think I will just continue to do Rung 2 for the next couple of weeks (but still adding 5 net carbs every two weeks) until I get back on the 29th. So I'll stay with 30g this next week then go up to 35 next Sunday. I will weigh myself when I get back to see if I am still losing.
      I will be moving a lot more during vacation (hiking, biking, swimming) so I should still loose weight, only problem is I will have no internet or food scale so I will have to wing it by eye.

      -I will now mark nuts off of my list and only have them on special occasions.

        that sounds like fun. My daughter is leaving for a trip to Austria soon. There is a song festival in Vienna she (and her choir) is participating in.
        You'll do fine. Just enjoy yourself. Check in when you get back.

          Good for you that you've found a problem food.

          When you return from your vacation you might want to try other nuts (non-almond) and see what happens. Also if these were salted nuts, you might want to test how unsalted nuts react with you.

            They were unsalted...but I will. I want to try hazelnuts.

            Vienna, sounds fun. I am going to Nauders, close to the Italian border.

              I buy unsalted nuts all the time -- luckily I don't have any trouble with them. With almonds I only eat 14 (1/2 ounce) a day but I can eat a full serving of sunflower seeds. If I ever have any nuts with salt I'm done for - I can't get my rings off the next day and my hands swell very badly. You'll just have to try different nuts to see which effect you and which don't. Try the 1/2 serving of almonds and see if you have a gain.
