  • Does anyone else still get tired in the afternoon?

When I was eating all the sugar laden junk I wanted, I would come home from work and fall asleep on the couch about 4 every afternoon. Since starting Atkins, I'm better, but I still have some days that I need that nap (maybe once a week or so). Has anyone else had this phenomena? I keep saying to myself, I'm supposed to have more energy...where is it?

It depends...If I'm really physically active in the morning (my usual 3-4 miles PLUS some other exercise like mowing the lawn or shovelling the driveway of snow), then I'll feel washed out in the late afternoon (yes, that's right, exercise doesn't energize me for the whole day!)

There are also some days when I just feel the need to have a nap. When I do, I feel more refreshed. I think it's just my body telling me to slow down and take it easy for a little bit.

Oh good, me too! Ha! Especially in the last 6 weeks since I started exercising. I'm finding myself a lot more tired in the afternoon and I do doze on occasion. I've never had that huge energy surge that a lot of people talk about, but I also don't have the crash in the afternoon like I used to every single day. Now I'm tired because I've done something physical that day...or, like tonight...I've stayed up too late and pay for it the next day.

Exercise has been the key to my increase in energy during and at the end of the day.

When I first started Atkins, I did about 20 minutes every other day of cardio workouts. The exercise was very difficult as I was so out of shape. I was tired all the time.

Over the weeks and months as the exercise time increased, my energy level jumped geometrically. Now I have energy to burn at the end of my 10 hour day!

As much as I still dislike to exercise and the continued discipline it takes to do it, I sure enjoy the benefits!

if you are having mid afternoon fatigue it could be dehydration if yoiu aren't dringking enough low blood sugar if you aren't eatting enough or just metal fatigue too if you are getting enough rest at night.

Once you figure out your source you can take corrective measure and be energized likethe bunny.
