  • Should I move to owl?

I have been in induction since may 1st and went from 250lb to 218lb. Down a few sizes in clothes too which is great. My weighloss has slowed which is normal to about 2-3 lb a week. I'm just scared of adding anything. I was thinking of staying in induction for 20 more pounds..until I am 199. I haven't been there for a long time. HELP!

Also, what should I introduce when I make this step?

The first rung is 5 carbs "extra" of the same veggies that are allowed in induction. You can add 5 carbs/week. If you are eating an average of 20carbs/day now, then go up to 25, if your average is 15, go up to 20.

I'm losing just as fast on Rung1, 30carbs/day as I did my third week of induction (I moved up my 4th week).

If I could find a decent yogourt, I'd move to rung 2! I may have to make my own...sigh.

Re: Should I move to owl?

I cannot tell you strong enough that my opinion is definitely YES! I know that the book supports extended induction and it is fine for those that really want to do it. However, I have done Atkins in the past and reached my goal weight, but I stayed on induction straight through to the end. At that point, I did not know how individual foods affected me and I had no idea about my CCLL. I think that it is very important to go through the rungs early on - drag them out if you want - maybe two to three weeks on each.

Going through the rungs also makes me feel like I am getting new treats along the way while at the same time jump starting my weight loss again. Seriously. If you are slowing down in your weight loss, give it a try.
        149.8/no weigh/ 119

        1st goal: 139 (earlier weight)
what the rungs mean to me:
        rung 1 - more veggies
rung 2 - dairy (some milk in coffee)
rung 3 - seeds, nuts (mostly sprinkled on salads)
        rung 4 - berries, melon
        rung 5 - wine -
        rung 6 - beans, hummus
        rung 7 - other fruits
rung 8 - carrots/ potatoes (nah, prolly not)
rung 9 - whole grains (fresh Dutch breads...)
        Major Goal - 128 lbs/ healthy range
        (on to pre-maintenance)
