  • Looking for recommendations

I am an American living in The Netherlands. I can get almost everything I need here and some things are wonderful. For example, the produce is beautiful and the chicken, pork and beef is incredibly fresh.

I am having trouble reading the labels on vitamins, though. I need something that won't make me sick. I usually feel nauseous with a full strength vitamin and resort to childrens flintstones, just to have something. Any thoughts? I can order online.

I doubt that I will eat foods such as bars and shakes, but I am also looking for low carb options in the maintenance, pre-maintenance phase. Perhaps, low carb whole grain tortillias? Oatmeal? Pasta? Anything you just love?
    Thanks!
    149.8/no weigh/ 119

    1st goal: 139 (earlier weight)
what the rungs mean to me:
    rung 1 - more veggies
rung 2 - dairy (some milk in coffee)
rung 3 - seeds, nuts (mostly sprinkled on salads)
    rung 4 - berries, melon
    rung 5 - wine -
    rung 6 - beans, hummus
    rung 7 - other fruits
rung 8 - carrots/ potatoes (nah, prolly not)
rung 9 - whole grains (fresh Dutch breads...)
    Major Goal - 128 lbs/ healthy range
    (on to pre-maintenance)

SHannon, if the questions is for when you get to pre-maintenance, perhaps you would get more responses posting this in the maintenance thread. Most of us aren't eating those things yet so we can't really advise you. The only things I see myself adding back are an occasional low carb tortilla, steel cut oats, and yams. I don't miss potatoes and cannot muster portion control for pasta although I love it.

On the vitamins, I too get nauseous sometimes. I try different brands and some bother me less than others. The kid vitamins may have sugar--you should check. I try to take vitamins after a meal because on an empty stomach I have actually thrown up from the nausea.
