  • Going on a trip - suggestions?

I am going on a trip to Norway. I will be there for five days and I am flying, so no cooler. I would like to stay on plan as much as possible. We will be spending a good bit of time on a boat or a train. I get motion sickness so I have to stay as full as possible.

Any ideas on what to eat? What to bring? I will be on the nut rung by then, hopefully. That will help, but not by much.

    1st goal: 139 (earlier weight)
what the rungs mean to me:

rung 3 - seeds, nuts (mostly sprinkled on salads)
    rung 4 - berries, melon
    rung 5 - wine -
    rung 6 - beans, hummus
    rung 7 - other fruits
rung 8 - carrots/ potatoes (nah, prolly not)
rung 9 - whole grains (fresh Dutch breads...)
    Major Goal - 128 lbs/ healthy range
    (on to pre-maintenance)

Can you get some sugar-free jerky? (I've heard you can order it online - or make your own) Canned ham/tuna?

I love Norway. Where are you going?
How about bringing a small cooler and then pack it with stuff there - and use ice pacs? In addition to what has been suggested cheeses are good. (Jarlsberg is great ) You could also do other dairies - there are good yogurts in Norway or soft/hard cheeses. Depending on what is happening buy peppers and other veggies on markets/grocery stores. Fresh shrimp on the coast - Norwegian lobster, salmon - try their "spekemat" - cured meats. Those are lovely.

Re: Going on a trip - suggestions?

We are going to Oslo, Balestrand and Bergen. It should be beautiful. I am very excited, but also nervous. I have lost seven pounds and I know all too well what happens when you falter from the WAE for even just a few days. Those are good ideas. I forgot that there is no reason not to bring canned tuna or jerky. I have to look around for jerky here. (expat in The Netherlands) I am not sure if I have seen it before, but there are awesome little sausages and of course, the cheese, I should be able to buy in Norway all over. Usually, if there is a snack bar with sandwiches, there is some type of salads. They do not have to be large/ good. (Yay, the beauty of ketosis)
