  • Help - what causes this?

I have been perfect! I promise. I know exactly how to do this diet and I haven't fallen off plan for a minute. This morning, suddenly, I am three pounds up. I know that I should not weigh myself every day. Heck, I preach that all the time to others. I know that it can affect your confidence in the plan and that weight fluctuates, but...............

I am still in ketosis. I have been for three weeks now. Any thoughts? No extra salt. I have been getting all my water in.

    Desperate for your thoughts...

Girl!! It's going to be okay!! I promise!

Any hormonal issues? ToM? Are you taking an oral contraceptive? Any other meds? It could just be your muscles holding onto water if you're exercising. You'll be fine. It does work this way. Just happened to me recently too. If it does anything positive at all for you, it teaches you to be grateful and appreciate maintaining and not gaining during the times you're not losing. I know it can be discouraging. Put the scale away for a week and you might be down 5 lbs in 7 days. Sometimes it just works that way. DO NOT doubt the plan!! When I do that, I just try to convince myself perhaps I'm just full of sh*t!! Turns out, sometimes that's true!!

Thanks so much for the quick responses. I *know* you are right. I say it to others all the time. It just absolutely freaked me out. I did promise to put the scale away, but I have such a hard time with that. Argh. Okay, I will chill.

Re: Help - what causes this?

As the others said, it is probably one of those normal fluctuations

But it could always be a reaction to one of the added rung 2 foods - what have you added lately?

Re: Help - what causes this?

I added a small amount of whole milk in my coffee, two days this week. I am not tempted at home, but I am at work. Could this happen even if I am in ketosis? I have stayed in ketosis the whole time. I guess I can answer my own question. yes, you can gain while still in ketosis. Hrm! That is all I have added this week.

Re: Help - what causes this?

So, I have gotten through the day with this mix up in my head and it is 5:45 p.m. here. Yes, almost dinner time. For some odd reason, I have terrible cravings. I just feel like giving in. It seems like a hamburger (or a .......... whatever) would be so good right now. I am *not* going to cheat, but for the first time in weeks, I feel very weak and doubtful of this WOE. I just had a snack, sliced zuccini, eggplant and cheese. Small amount to try to make the feeling go away.

I checked again and I am still in ketosis. I did exercise a lot today. Maybe that has something to do with it. Also, it is my TOM. Does TOM ever cause CRAVINGS?

I guess it is kind of funny, but not really... but my dd was eating nutella on stale bread, which I don't even like and I wanted to snatch it out of her hands. This is very different from the high I have been on.

My TOM causes cravings and water retention.

I think the TOM does that to most of us
