I have been on Rung 1 for awhile now and find I am still in Ketosis. My weight does not want to move more than a pound a month. Should I try moving up to Rung 2?

I have been in ketosis since I started and when I added the veggies, I seem to have stayed level. My sugar has been absolutely the best it has ever been. I stay at the 90 - 100 range morning noon and night. I have lost 4.5 inches in my waist but I have not measured my arms or legs yet but my clothes are getting loose.

If you are an over 45 woman, then a pound a month may just be your loss rate. As long as you are feeling good and losing inches I would try to be OK with that.

You can check your calories in fitday.com--maybe you are eating more than you need. If so, try to actively think about whether you are physically hungry or just want to eat more. Do you exercise?

It's not about the results. Its about the process.

Audrey -- move on to Rung 2 -- it's nice to have a 1/2 cup of cottage cheese once in awhile or a Greek yogurt. Just a heads up, since we both have such a slow time and are both diabetic, the low carb ice cream may be something you have V E R Y rarely -- I had it once and it wasn't a good experience. I've decided to stick with whipping some cream occassionally and having that as my ice cream substitute. I'm glad you're moving up another Rung!!

          Re: moving up the Rung

I am at 25 carbs a day. I think my problem is exercise. I can walk a mile or maybe a mile in a half. I try to do this every other day. If it rains, which it has done everyday this month, we go to the mall and walk. I do keep fitday and check my carbs closely, but sometimes I don't measure and could be over a little. Thank you for your replys,

If you are still losing weight---pounds or inches---at your current carb level, then you haven't reached your CCLL yet.

So keep adding carbs until you find it.

It's really much better if you do find it, that way you'll know exactly how many carbs you can eat and still lose pounds or inches.

              Re: moving up the Rung

Audrey you posted this in another post so I wanted to bring it over and address it:

Carole, I always get inspiration from your blog. I am a follower of the successful people who give the most expert advise. This site has taken over all of my thinking about how to treat myself with diet, exercise, challenges, etc.

It has given me the information as to why I should not give up but keep struggling to get to my goal. This has been so very difficult for me since my weight does not want to cooperate with the rest of my body. The positive thing is that I can see the sizes go down and my clothes get looser. I keep thinking that the fat must be going somewhere and someday it will show up on the scale.

Rung 2 could be the anwser but I am beginning to think I am not eating enought and need a cheat to push this ahead. Thank you for listening, I must be tired so I babble on and on. Nighty, night. Audrey

Please don't cheat - it's not worth it. I did a couple months ago (we went out to dinner and I decided to let myself have a night to eat whatever I wanted to) and spent 3 weeks trying to get the 3 pounds I gained back off...it took a lot of extra exercising to get the weight off. If you have heard of people cheating and then when they go back on Atkins they loose again I am afraid those are young people who would have lost anyway if they didn't want to go out drinking with friends and eating appetisers and whatnot on a weekend. I didn't have that happen to me, it was more of a struggle to get the weight off and in my mind, just wasn't worth it.
