  • I blew it!!!!

I was doing so good and then yesterday we went to town. Hubby wanted Chinese food so off we went to the Asian Cuisine Buffet..Yes Buffet..Oh I was dooing so good. I went and picked out the celery, green peppers shrimp, chicken and beef for the cook to stir fry for me. I thought great I can do this. Well then I seen the wonton soup and seseme honey garlic chicken. It was all down hill from there. By the time I was finished I was so discusted with my self that I just continued to binge.
Well I woke up this morning feeling awful and 5 pounds up. I was so close to breaking the 180 this week and now here I am losing those same 5 pounds again just to get to where I was.
Believe me no one could be more disappoined in me than I am. Well I am going to do the induction for the rest of the weekend and try to clean out my body with tons of water.

    Re: I blew it!!!!

No need to go back to Induction. Pick up where you left off in OWL. Afterall, you are on Rung 1. Maximum number of carbs on Rung 1 is 25, so you probably can stick with Rung 1 carbs and not have to "go back to Induction".

The next most important thing to do is to figure out strategies for the next time you wander into a Chinese buffet. When I go to places like that, I don't even look at the stuff I know I can't have. But I look at and focus on, the things I can eat.

The buffet places where I am offer seafood like steamed shrimp, clams, crabs etc. I've noticed they also have 2 types of vegetables/entrees. One that caters more for the American-style Chinese food lovers and another that caters for the more Asian-style Chinese food lovers. The Asian-style Chinese foods are usually very light on the sauces (if they are used at all.) It's plainly steamed fish, sauteed chicken and sauteed vegetables. I once made a meal out of boiled crabs, shrimp and very simply sauteed baby bok choy with garlic. The bok choy looked very dull compared to the other vegetables it was next to, so you had to look very closely to get it.

So, start making up strategies----because there will always be a "next time". So be prepared for it.

It happens - it will take a few days to get rid of those new pounds but they will go away (probably mostly sodium). Drink a little extra water, stay where you are on the rung (like Megs said) and go forward from here.

Those places are so hard! I don't have anything like that where I live now and that helps a lot.
        149.8/no weigh/ 119

        1st goal: 139 (earlier weight)
what the rungs mean to me:
        rung 1 - more veggies
rung 2 - dairy (some milk in coffee)
rung 3 - seeds, nuts (mostly sprinkled on salads)
        rung 4 - berries, melon
        rung 5 - wine -
        rung 6 - beans, hummus
        rung 7 - other fruits
rung 8 - carrots/ potatoes (nah, prolly not)
rung 9 - whole grains (fresh Dutch breads...)
        Major Goal - 128 lbs/ healthy range
        (on to pre-maintenance)

It's no fun messing up. But the good thing is that you recognized your mistake and are already fixing it. You'll be fine. You've got the right mindset to succeed. Just keep moving forward no matter what happens.

thanks everyone for the encouragement. I am already down 2 of the pounds I put back on and tried yesterday and again today to eat more fat than I usually do. I found a way to have my cheesecake and eat it too. 2oz of cream cheese,a tbsp of Torani chocolate syrup mixed well and mmm good.
I drank over 144oz of water yesterday and going for the same today.

              Re: I blew it!!!!

I live in a very small, rural area. Mostly produce grower/brokers, rodeo horse breeders (which I love, since we get to see the colts each spring out grazing with their moms) and cattle ranchers (open ranges - I've had cows eating the greenery on the opposite side of my fence). Since it's close to Nogales, US and Mexico, most of the restaurants are Mexican. Recently a new Chinese buffet restaurant opened up and I've been debating whether to pay it a visit; Chinese being my very favorite food! Thus far my "no" side is winning that debate!

The last time I ventured into a Chinese buffet I was visiting my husband's cousins in DC. I didn't even try to stay on plan; just stuffed with abandon! Along with being up the requisite 5 lbs., every part of my body was swollen. My eyes looked like they were packed and ready to go. My feet and ankles were swollen, my hands and my back hurt (arthritis that never bothers me if I stay low carb). I was miserable! It took 5 embarassing days for the swelling to go down; I mean, we were on vacation visiting my husband's family, I didn't want to go 'round looking like I'd been partying every night!!

So, that's my experience and why "no" keeps winning the debate!
