  • Think I might go back to Induction

Im feeling a bit fed up today... still no weight loss, ive been the same weight for over 2 weeks now.

Im thinking of giving induction another try - if im honest im self doubting that this WOE is for me?

Yes I feel better for embarking on the Atkins WOE, I dont have cravings for carbs, im exercising loads and loving it, im cooking lovely dishes and loving it... but im fed up with the weight not shifting, I still want to loose 50lbs, so its not like im even close to achieving my goals...

To date ive lost 21lbs, I did well on induction and after 4 weeks I started to add more veggies - nothing - after forum advice ive added small qualtitites of diary - nothing - ive upped my cardio to 5 hours a week, plus pilates, light weight training, aerotone - NOTHING!!!!!!

I dont understand why ive stalled? Im strict with my eating & drink 4L water a day......

I want this WOE to work, but im loosing faith sorry to be so negative......

Are you measuring? How long have you been doing this WOE (your profile still says 14-day induction?) Have you posted a menu for review?

No worries about being negative. Whatever you say, I'm sure we've heard worse around here.

Okay... So you added 5 net carbs of veggies and 5 net carbs of diary? Is this right? What veggies and what diary products did you add? Did you add them one every week? More a week? Did you add them in the same weeks when you increased your carbs?

Are you losing inches? How are your clothes fitting?

Feeling your pain... I too get frustrated over the slow wt loss but for me I notice a pattern where I lose... maintain...for what seems like a long time then lose then maintain... I think it's something that takes a lot of patience and time. The people who are successful here are the ones who stick it out through the plateus (spelling sorry) and don't cheat. Plus, I found that exercise adds muscle which weighs more than fat. I'll bet that you are ready for a whooshi... give it more time, drink lots of water, be very strict, take your vitamins and supplements, take your fiber, etc... and you'll start losing before you know it. Hang in there. ( I personally got fed up with myself and restarted induction: it feels good btw)

Hi Julie - Im doing the same as I did on induction and measuring by handful, this worked in induction so ive continued - 2 handfuls of mixed salad, 1 handful of raw veggies each day.
Ive been this WOE for over 6 weeks now, i did induction for 4 weeks where i lost 21 lbs, then 2 weeks ago i upped my veggies, another handful of raw veggies added to my dinner. I continued with that method for well over a week, then last week I had some single cream with ruhbarb over 2 days and have had some cream cheese in ham rolls..

          Typical day menu:

breakie: 3 egg omlette with 1 oz cheddar, chives, 2 baby plum tomatoes

Lunch: 2 handfuls of mixed salad (lettuce, cucumber, pepper) tuna

Dinner: Chicken breast fillet with 2 handfuls (raw) cooked veggies (courgette, garlic, chilli, ginger, corriander, aubergine)

snacks: 1oz cream cheese ham rolls or romaine lettuce leaves with cream cheese
I drink 2 cups of white herbal tea with 1 splenda tab in each (when at work) plus 4-5L water daily
          some evenings I have a de-caf tea with t'sp splenda & tb'sp cream as a treat!

Im thinking of going back to induction and getting myself a measuring cup, which i cant find here at the moment, ive been searching ebay uk. Starting a fresh for my own sanity!

              Hi Liz
oh thanks so much for your reply.. I see lots of posts on here with peeps hitting that wall like me! when i have followed low fat diets in past I followed a pattern like you mentioned, where I didnt loose and then all of a sudden it would come off, and them stop again, I could live with that, as my fat weeks as i used to call them, i knew would be followed by a good loss - i used to think my body operated a week slower than i did! but on this WOE i dont feel any pattern yet.... its been more like fat burning for 4 weeks and now my body has adjusted to this WOE and thats it! Ive been soo positive and have such strong will power, I really want this to work, Ive had so many family get togethers that have involved food in past 6 weeks and have maintained my will power, which im proud of..... but im thinking now, for what??
Im gonna go back to basics and see if that kick starts fat burning again - if not, then maybe i will consider the low fat route again??? I will see.... I will let you know how i get on, best a luck to you too

Yep, that's exactly what you should do! If you are losing inches, you are not stalled. Just continue with OWL and the scale should catch up. When we lose weight, the fat lost from the fat cells is replaced with water. Because water has a higher density than fat, we will become smaller (the proof that we are losing fat!) even when the scales don't move. When the water in fat cells has reached a certain threshold, a chemical is released that pushes all this extra water out, which results in a so-called "whooshie". Take measurements now and then repeat this every 2-3 weeks. As long as you fit into smaller clothes, the number on the scale means nothing.

For measuring cups, you could use a regular drinking cup instead. 1 cup is about 237 ml.

Re: Think I might go back to Induction

Mzdizzy, dont give up, you have done so well so far! My scale has been stuck at the same number for more than 2 weeks now. From what ive read on the board this is normal. I, like you feel so much better, I dont have any cravings for carbs or sugar, im excited to try out new foods and recipes and i never ever go hungry! Plus im exercising loads so im toning up and increasing muscle mass (hopefully) . so im thinking my body is adjusting to all thIS, and will soon let go and show me some downward movement on the Scale!!
There are so many other benefits we get with eating this way, it would be such a shame to let the number on the scale put you off, give yourself a break girl! your doing GREAT!!

Re: Think I might go back to Induction

                    I agree with everyone.

Go through your menues and make sure you really are eating those amounts. There's a tendency to get sloppy with measuring foods and recording foods. So make sure you are doing those things properly.

Look at the ingredients of every food you are eating---I mean every food. That includes condiments (mustard, salad dressings, etc.), beverages, etc. Make sure these foods do not contain illegal ingredients. I remember Valid Rouge went through a stall. She reviewed her foods and discovered the "0 carb sugar free" ice tea she was drinking contained high fructose corn syrup.

Measure yourself. I went through a few months of not really losing any weight: I would be down 2 pounds one week, then would be up a pound the following week, and another pound the week after that, then down 2 pounds the following week. However, I lost several dress sizes. As long as you are losing inches, you are not in a weight loss stall. Dr. Atkins wrote the loss of inches was a better indicator of FAT loss than the loss of pounds on the scale.

Re: Think I might go back to Induction

I actually meant are you measuring yourself, not your food, which you've answered Losing inches is really the main goal for most of us...we've just been trained to measure our success using the evil scale rather than our eyes & the measuring tape Try measuring yourself (there is an excellent chart in the 6WEC area showing where to measure if you aren't sure). I've noticed amazing results by measuring!

Also, feel free to join us in the Ongoing Scale Free challenge. You can choose how often you weigh yourself, if at all. http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...llenge-35.html

I understand that in Europe most things are measured by weight rather than cups. Makes sense to me! I use this: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...p-measure.html
and a scale to measure my veggies. I know by their weight & this chart how many 'cups' I am having of each. Much more accurate than stuffing food into a measuring cup!!

                      Best wishes for continued success,
