Someone asked a question in another thread (here: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ml#post1107865) and it got me thinking... Did you find adding foods (new foods or "tried" foods but in 10 net carb amounts) towards the end of OWL and during Pre-Maintenance more difficult without the appetite suppression effect of ketosis? Or were you, at that point, well in control of your eating (food, amounts, etc.) and that compensated for the lack of appetite suppression?

Re: Adding foods in late OWL & Pre-Maintenance
I found it quite easy by the time I was near goal. It's true, the appetite suppression was missing by that time, but I was so used to the plan that I found I could enjoy the additions without needing to overeat of them.
I'm still amazed that that's how it was. Quite awesome.

Re: Adding foods in late OWL & Pre-Maintenance
That is interesting because I was thinking about that the other day. Why is it that when I am feeling like quitting, just because I ate 5 strawberries and it sent me into a sugar frenzy for some reason, why do I not just reach for deviled eggs or something to squelch the urge? Why does it have to be Frosted Flakes?! I have been getting concerned about the lack of appetite suppression, but I keep telling myself I can always eat chicken. Any day, any time. Right? Remind me to think like that later when I am pre-maintenance. =)

Re: Adding foods in late OWL & Pre-Maintenance
Also 5 net carbs of something like rice is a very small amount. So you have to use those higher rung foods as ingredients rather than as the focal point of a dish. For example, adding 5 net carbs of rice to a soup or using 5 net carbs of flour to dust chicken or fish before pan frying.
