How many carbs should I be eating at rung 6?

  • How many carbs should I be eating at rung 6?

    I am eating foods from rungs 1-6 now (skipped rung 5). I'm still in moderate ketosis because I have been eating at around 30-35 carbs per day. In other words, I will eat two or three of the OWL foods per day, not all of them.

    Just because I'm at rung 6 doesn't mean I should be eating 50 carbs per day, does it? Just making sure I understand how OWL works. I read this section of the book a couple months ago but forgot these details.

    I have yet to attempt to determine my CCLL. I don't want to slow down my weight loss too much at this point since I'm only a bit over 1/3 of the way to my goal...

    No I was on rung 9 and did not eat more net carbs that that. Because my CCLL is around there. At some point you want to add a few more carbs and see how you do. You will still lose doing that until you hit your limit. And you want to know your limit.

      If you always managed the maximum 20 net carbs on induction and have added 5 net carbs on each rung then, yes, you could be eating 50 net carbs on rung 6.

      If however your 3 cups of veg were always lettuce then you might only have eaten about 5 net carbs (assuming you stuck to the 'most of your carbs from your veg rule' and didnt eat very much cheese/eggs/sweetener) on induction. Then rung 6 would mean being at about 35 net carbs max.
      Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
