  • If I stall at 35 net carbs/day...Does that mean my CCCL level is 30 netcarbs?

Hi! For the last few days I have found that I am in a stall at 35 net carbs. Also, I am eating nuts at rung 3.

So does this mean my CCCL level is 30 net carbs or should I skip the nuts (causing the stall) and continue eating 35 net carbs a day w/ veggies instead?

    Thanks

A lot of people specifically have problems with nuts. I would take out the nuts for a bit and go from there. My guess is the stall will stop. Some people also get stalls/cravings with certain types of nuts, so you could try elimination one by one to see if that is the case for you.

Could you describe what you mean by "a stall?" Dr. Atkins did spell out the length of time that needs to pass without any loss of weight or inches before it is really a stall.

I think it would be hard to say after just a few days of no weight loss, which is not at all uncommon for most folks although it may not have happened to you before. If it were me, and I'm no expert by any means, I think I would make sure I wasn't eating the nuts but every couple or three days and wait another week and see what happens. Maybe another few pounds will drop off and answer your question on its own.

If I still didn't lose after another week at 35 carbs and eating some nuts, I think I would drop back by 5 carbs for the next week and still eat the nuts. If I dropped the carbs back and was still eating nuts maybe 3 times during that week, then if I lost during that week I would assume it was the higher level of carbs and not the nuts that caused me not to lose. If I dropped back to 30 carbs and I lost at that level previously but did NOT lose at that level when eating nuts, then I would feel more sure it was the nuts and not the carb level.

As a final thought, I would make sure the nuts in whatever form you are eating them do not contain any other ingredients which might slow or stop your weight loss, like are they salted and causing water retention, etc. Also I think some people may have problems with peanuts (not truly a nut) but not with other nuts like almonds or walnuts. If you have been eating peanut items, it might be that you can eat other nuts but not peanuts. For myself, I want to make dang sure of any food I think I might have to cut out before I cross it off my list, LOL! I'm moving to the nut rung myself in the next week or two and looking forward to trying out a variety of nuts and seeds.

        Good luck with it.

A few days does not a stall make.

So, no, you can't assume that!

I've known people in stalls for up to 7 months ...

Sometimes you just have to persevere.

You can try dropping the nuts ... but you can't always assume that they're the culprit!

Are you losing inches? If you are, then don't worry about what the scale says.

If you aren't losing inches, then you can do 1 or 2 things:

            1. Drop the nuts and continue to eat at 35 net carbs. If you lose weight, your problem is most likely the nuts.

            2. Keep the nuts but drop to 30 net carbs. If you lose weight, your problem is most likely the 35 net carb level.
