  • OK, ewww to a formerly liked food...

So today I decided to move onto the dairy rung.

Having always liked small-curd cottage cheese, I thought I'd add 1/2 cup to my dinner, since I had half-and-half earlier with some tea.

It made me gag. I can't believe it. But then again, maybe it's 'cos hubby bought the large curd, and it was more watery than I'm used to.

Maybe I'll stay away from it for awhile. What a turnoff!

I still love cottage cheese but milk.... I used to love milk but now it is like it is too sweet.

With cottage cheese, I do find the brand makes a difference to me.

And while I have always liked green beans just fine, now I love them...they are my new comfort food (instead of sugary, carb laden stuff). Go figure.

I kind of hate cottage cheese but I have found if trying to reduce fat as go up the rungs it can be good added in to recipes. When I do tuna mayo I use half cottage cheese and half mayo. Also if making a dairy based creamy bake sauce then you can subsitute it in for half the cream cheese or cream.

I always add cream to my cottage cheese. I like it fatty.
Milk is the thing I have cut out too. Which is weird because I used to drink tons of it and now I am just fine without it.

Oh that sounds delicious. I'm going grocery shopping this weekend and that is definitely going on my list.

I tried several brands of cottage cheese before I found one that was palatable. I add mayo to make it more creamy. It's great with sliced tomatoes...

Never paid attention to milk until Atkins but it really does have a lot of sugar/carbs. Have you tried Valio (new here in the US from the makers of Finlandia cheese) or Hood's Calorie Countdown (used to be called Carb Countdown until low carb became a bad word)? Both are very low in sugars/carbs. The difference in sweetness is noticeable...you may like one of these better than regular milk. Unfortunately, they only come in FF or 2% but the 2% is pretty good.

Thanks for mentioning that. Our store usually carries Hood products so I will look and see what they have.
