it's because the combination of sugar salt and fat are uniquely addictive, they know what they're doing.

I was looking at a bag of frozen spinach in the frozen foods at the grocery, this one said buttered spinach,
so ingredients were: Spinach, Butter and of course---

      SUGAR!!!

Now I know for a fact that Popeye NEVER put sugar in his Spinach!!!

The KFC grilled and rotisserie chickens are not injected, they are brined in a solution that contains sugar. Sugar, in the brining solution, will add flavor to the chicken and will improve the natural caramelized flavor that occurs when the meat is grilled or fried.

Ever notice that your at home baked chicken doesn't taste or look the same as those KFC or rotisserie chicks? It's because of the brining. Most people don't brine at home. I have pre-Atkins and it really does make delightful poultry. The thing is, at home you can keep sugar at a minimum...with commercial chicken you have no idea how much sugar they used.
DISCLAIMER: BRINING IS NOT RECOMMENDED ON ATKINS

Okay, I just want to tell you guys one other little thing I know. My husband is a truck driver and he hauls feed to cattle. Guess what the farmers feed them... Sugar beet tailings and corn by products. SO even though the list of ingrediants say pure ground beef, they have been eating sugar all winter long.

              I know ....ewwww right?
