  • Help!

So far down 40 lbs. I am a "normal weight" now, even though not at my goal, and still lots of extra weight on me.

I am having a hard time maintaining my exercise and eating. I managed today, but just.

    Help!!

You should start thinking about moving onto Pre-Maintenance.

The other thing is how do you look like to yourself? Remember if you hve been exercising, you've built up muscle mass. That scale will read the muscle pounds and fat pounds as the same thing---pounds. So use that measuring tape. Go shopping and try on clothing to see if you are the "size" you want to be.

Get your body fat analysed to see if you are within the normal body fat for a woman of your age and height, too. You might be in the same situation as 2Big. Her body fat was the same as a female athlete, but her scale showed a higher number. Again, it's because she gained muscle through her exercise and lost fat. But the good old scale didn't show that.

      annual PE

I am so close to my weight goal yet sooo far...feeling very vulnerable today. I am following the pre-maintenance Atkins plan to the T.

I went to my GP today for my annual PE. Kinda scared about the results. I will let you guys know what my blood tests say. I have been doing atkins for about 8-9 months. Just scared about my blood tests, I guess, because of all the fat I eat. We will see if what I have been doing for so long really translates into healthy blood work.

By the way, my blood pressure was great, 116/76.

      Will let you know,

Great bp Kelly!! Let us know how the rest of your tests go ... do not fear the FAT ... heaven knows I eat tons of it and have great cholesterol and I'm sure many others here can say the same thing! The risk comes into play when you combine the high fat with high carb which of course we don't do!

woo hoo for you with that loss and BP.

It is harder to thinkof your weight loss situation as still critical when you are "normal". DIscuss with your Doc what a resonable gaol weight for your body type should be based on your current lean body mass and then decide it you are settling for less then you can be by staying where you are or getting the smaller healtheir body by deserve.

Many many folk have discovered when they declare victory and goal they actually lose mopre weight.

Bertty did it and NurseLady struggleed for months with 1 pound and is now 5 pounds below her goal weight.

Hang in there cause you know you are worth it more then any pleasure you would get out of not doing your exercise and eating off plan!

Thank you Betty, 2big, Jackye for your replies. I am feeling as scared as I have ever felt about my health. Mainly, because I have ignored my health for several years and now I will get the results.
Following Atkins has been really easy, I love my WOL, and want to do it forever. But to see your doctor, someone I trust for years, and have them distrust my WOL is scary. They know more than me, yet I know how I feel. The blood tests will tell all. I will let you know.

your blood work should be fine but from your post I can tell you didn't do the before blood work did you so you will not have anything to compare how good your Atkins improvements were.

Rememeber after that long time doing bad a Total cholesterol of 300 might just be something to celebrate if this time last yr it was 400. I had a friend who low carbed and her heart doc was very happy her triglycerides were 600 3 months in as beofre they had been 800 and on all his meds too.
