  • I'm here to OWL because I give a hoot--

--A hoot about not losing a ding danged pound in some time!

It's time to start adding back some carbs to kick start my weight loss.

It'll speed me up, and even if it doesn't, I'm a girl who--let's just say-- needs more time to acclimate to the carb rungs so my blood sugar doesn't go all bizarro on me and cause me to ingest an icecream truck before the driver has time to make a clean getaway.

I'll be around, reading about your experiences and learning, in addition to sleeping with my 2002 version of DANDR under my pillow for osmosis purposes (which, unfortunately, doesn't really work on the knowledge front).

I'm off to read more about our plucky friend, Mr OWL... and not the one from the Tootsie pop ads who didn't know how many licks it took to get to the center!

    Hi Cleo :wave
I have found that I am starting to lose again since moving to OWL so I am sure you are making the right move :yes
And it is good to be able to eat more veggie servings too - I added several 5-carbs of veggies before moving to dairy so I could have more variety.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

hey Cleo just so you aren't cofused about what the heck you ad as the extra carbs during rung one after you finsih rereading chapter 14 for those days you don't have the new food group per page 179 know that that is a typo and we have a stickie saying so. It was supposed to be new food as in a food you have not had on your AStkins before not the entire food group 3 times the first week and that goes for any time you encounter a new to you food in your Atkins even if it is from a lower rung then the one you are currently on. Happy low carbing.

Thank you for the nice welcome!

2big, I read that post last night regarding the addition of new foods and thank you for the reminder! I am excited about this newest phase! I'm down 5 pounds, so it bugs me that everytime I think I'm stalled I whooshie. Still, I really need a lot of training for lifetime maintenance and keeping myself in induction for a long period of time won't help that.

              Thank you everyone!!!

2big-- my first addition will be zucchini! I found a great recipe in "Atkins for life" and am dying to give it a shot!

I'm so excited about expanding my choices while still keeping tabs on my eating. I want to be able to branch out, and look forward to doing this in OWL, while still keeping my cravings under control!

YAY! I'm excited to finally be here!

Glad you're here, Cleo. I started OWL about 6 months into my WOE. I had been "stalled" for a month. Once I started OWL, I lost 10 lbs. in one month. Which is a HUGE loss for me, I am a slooooow loser! Hopefully that will be what happens to you, also!

I decided today to start on owl also

I was getting so bored on the induction that I knew it was time to go on to Owl..I lost a total of 15lbs on induction, but I also know that I battled back and forth with my weight because I was gettting bored of the same old things.. :icondance

Hi, debi! I'll be honest with you-- I'm excited about eating more carbs now, and I know I can handle it! And if I do eat celery as a snack and get hungry as a result of not coupling it with fat or protein, I understand WHY and don't take it as a hunger signal to go and eat something else! I love having control!

                          Hi, floydgirl!

Thank you for the welcome and for your experience! I already feel more successful moving out of OWL... as if to say, "She's out of the starting blocks and she actually did something right!" For me, I loved induction, but I always felt I was stuck at square one. It's time to see what I'm really made of (well, fat and water, but you know what I mean!).

                          :joy

Good to see you progressing through OWL, Cleo. You are certainly not only on the right road to weight loss, but to learning to keep it off. Adjusting your brain to want the new things is my problem. Keep going and keep being such a model "by the booker."
