  • Oh...NUTS!!!

    I have been enjoying the nut rung for the last week...14 pieces of macadamias every other day since Saturday. And I'm within a pound of my pre-Christmas binging weight.

    I cannot tell you what a treat this is for me. And yesterday our Mom (83 and just started lifting weights!) brought home some fresh berries from the farmers' market. So in a day or two I'll jump up another rung. I realized I'd stayed on Extended Induction and rungs 1-2 a little too long. Plus I was scared (as others have noted) that jumping up a rung would undo my progress.

    Glad to see I was proven wrong. Thanks to everyone on these boards who have kept me going. This is the longest I've ever been on an eating plan, and I'm 45 and have tried them ALL, short of surgery.

    Don't forget to eat berries with some fat... like heavy cream, cheese (ricotta, for example), nuts...

      Do you weigh them?

      10-12 is generally an ounce, which is what we should be eating (unless it's cashews).

      Of course, some macs are huge, and some are tiny ...

        J, Yes, I have a very accurate digital kitchen scale. They're not 14 whole pieces.

        Georgiana, I must have missed the boat when it comes to berries...I have to eat them with a fat? In any event, I would eat them with my macs as a dessert or snack.

          Yep. There's a note specifically about fruits in Chapter 14:

          "Eat berries and other fruit with cheese, nuts or cream to slow down their impact on your blood sugar."


          Berries with macadamias sounds good.
