  • Question about Rungs/Weight loss

I've read that for some, progressing up a rung has helped them with the weight loss (for example, if they were stalled). I've been eating mostly salad veggies like spinach for my veggies- I love spinach and it's nutritional values.

Last night, I had minimal lettuce but a small handful of cashews and almonds. Woosh, next day I was a pound less. This is not the first time it's happened when adding nuts to my day.

This is more an educational question for me. I understand about the ratios, and about ketosis. Just curious about...I guess the specific (or scientific!) reasons. Could it be that I wasn't eating enough foods from my current rung level (like nuts/berries) and it affected my progress? Or something else?

    Thanks!
    ~Lisa

    Could be.

What other vegetables are you eating other than spinach? On a daily basis, that is.

Other veggies- cauliflower frequently; some days celery in my tuna salad. Some days purple cabbage (my MIL makes with butter, onions and vinegar...love it!).

This would only happen if you are missing some nutrients in your "usual" menu. It can also happen if you are undereating your net carbs or your calories... or just not making the best food choices, even if all are acceptable for your current rung.

Are you keeping an eye on your vitamins and minerals in FitDay?

Are you getting MOST of your net carbs from Induction vegetables? You should be eating quite a bit being on Rung 5.

Thanks Georgiana. I haven't been tracking it lately, but I should. I'll need to start tracking it to see if I am getting the right amounts. I guess I could go up to the next rung so I have more veggie choices. Actually, I think I will.

I just started using Himalayan salt so I am getting a big boost with my minerals at least. And a new multivitamin which has high iron to counter my iron deficiency.

Yes, most of my net carbs are from veggies, but more induction type veggies. I've just had a tendency to eat those because I like them. I'll take a look at the veggies I can eat in the next rung up. Thanks Atkinsgal.

more important question would be what effect on your total eating did adding the nuts have?
did you eat less total cals for the day with the nuts.
did you eat less total food cause you were not hungry after having the nuts?

did the added potassium in the nuts cause you to pee more and give you a visit from the whoosh fairy you were due for anyways?

You will need controlled experiments to know if that was the reason or if it was just a coincedense.

Hi 2big...I was eating the nuts for a snack, not due to reduced meal sizes. It's possible it was just coincidence...but I agree i'll need to figure out what the reason is. Thanks for the advice!

what snack food did you sub the nuts for?
are you sure the meals following the nuts were not slightly smaller then they would be on none nut days?
