OK So i am begining week five and could use some assurance that i am doing this right.
I started atkins cause my dad just lost 50 pounds in like 5 months and it seemed like the best possible solution - eat what i enjoy most, and lose significant amounts of fat. I am male, 5ft 9in, 27 yrs old, and started this diet at 265 lbs. I was 180 10 years ago in highschool and would like to get back to about 200 lbs. my dad basically did induciton the whole time, but i don't think that is a sustainable long term solution so I would like to do this right.
Anyway, i did induction for 2, maybe 3 weeks and got down to about 250 lbs. During induciton I did not drink alchohol and at almost no carbs (besides salad) and it worked. Now, I am trying to OWL the right way.
I haven't changed my diet too much except now I will go out with the buddies and have a few whiskey and diets 1-2 times a week or a glases of white wine occasionally. I am also a little more liberal with carbs. For instance, I will eat store bought buffalo wings that have 3 carbs per serving and have 3 servings. I will also meatballs, more lunch meat, pepper jack cheese, diet soda, sugar free jello, asparagus, mushrooms, onions, green peppers, brocoli, etc.
My weekly diet typicall consists of:
bacon and eggs /Omlets (ham, cheese, green peppers (probably 2-4x/week)
Steak - I have 3-5 good steaks/ week (2 ribeyes on Sunday!)
Roasts - great for lunches
Porkchops - 1-2/ week
Salads - Ceasar or italian - 3-5x/week (usually with chicken)
Chicken of all sorts (rotissere, grilled, with melted cheese etc)
Burgers no bun or condiments (usually with Bacon/cheese)
pepperoni/pepperjack and beef jerkey - my go to snack food
GNC Multivitamin
Honestly:
-I do not count carbs or calories - just try to eat according to the diet and do a lot of guess work.
-I only exercise 1-2 times/week, usually play basketball for 2 hours or so, but walk about 2 miles a day to get to and from work
-I miss breakfast 2-3 times a week
-I smoke
- I cheated once 2weeks ago and had some sweet/spicy bonelss wings (it had carbs and sugar)
So, I just bought a scale and have been hovering between 249-245 depending on what time it is for over a week now. I haven't seen really any consistent loss in close to 2 weeks (although I am a rung smaller with the belt). I really want to be succesful, but am not sure why the progress has stopped.
Quesitons:
1. is this lull in progress normal or do you think i have to start over from induction. Just seems like I am at a standstill lately and don't think I am even eating enough carbs to have found my CCL
2. Do I have to have 3 traditional meals/day and how important is breakfast if I eat an early lunch
3. when do I know to move to the next rung in OWL (should I; even if I have not noticed weight loss in s weeks time)
4. any other advice would be great
I feel like I am doing it right, but am having doubts cause haven't really made much progress lately.
