  • How do you reward yourself?

When you reach a goal (mini or main)?

I thought this would be a fun little survey.

I usually buy a piece of clothing. I will be purchasing new undergarments for myself for reaching under 140.

CLothing (of course)--the useful kind (like basic shirts, skirts, etc.) and the somewhat frivolous kind (like scarves, shawls, etc.)

Jewelry. I'm a brooch freak: costume jewelry or the real stuff . So over my Atkins I've rewarded myself with different brooches. My "atkins collection" includes a big dragonfly brooch, a ladybug brooch, a snowflake brooch, a contemporary silver and moonstone flower brooch, an antique cameo and a victorian-style circular vine brooch with a jade focal point. And I've also indulged in assorted bracelets, bangles and rings.

As my "half-way there" reward I purchased a bicycle---that is probably my BIGGEST reward regret. I should have rewarded myself with the bike earlier in my weight loss because I use that bike for short errands, for going to the track or park to do my walks, etc. I truly believe that I would have gotten fit faster if I had purchased it early on rather than waiting.

There is a long thread on a topic like this in main you may want to check out

I have not really rewarded myself much. But I have tried to find some nice fitting clothes as inches have dissapeared. I find it encouraging to wear them and it helps me stick to keep going. Looks like you are due for some new undergarments very soon.

Re: How do you reward yourself?

Usually I don't want to waste $$ on clothing I won't be using long (hopefully). But I've found poor fitting clothing is just so depressing to wear, hard to feel good about yourself in baggy pants LOL

This time I am buying clothing as I need the next size. I have a very nice resale shop that I haven't been to in ages so I went the other day. They have a $1 clearance rack and I scored 2 gorgeous 4pc suits (no idea where I'll wear them but they are awesome), a pair of jeans and several nwt tops.

I know many won't wear used clothing but it's my way of keeping current sizes without wasting a lot of money. I also try to hit the store clearance section and nab good deals. Sounds vain but when I look good I feel good. Helps keep me on track.

Re: How do you reward yourself?

I don't mind used clothes at all. I look them over really well and if they are clean and it good shape who cares.

I see a lot of people on here who talk about needing different sizes and how the sizes change faster than they can get clothes. I was thinking the other day it is too bad that this board doesn't offer a swap or something. I have quite a few almost new pairs of jeans that now no longer fit me. It would be cool to be able to offer them to someone on here who is ready for that size.

As far as rewards. So far I haven't really rewarded myself with anything big. When I get to goal though there is a pair of really nice Seven for all mankind skinny jeans with my name on it
          Mini Goals

            Undergarments -check
I pretty much stay the same undergarment size so I wasn't worried about getting more.

I would like some new work shirts but I am going to hold off until April when I go shopping for the cruise and maybe a new bikini.

As for pants I have plenty right now although some are baggy and look like crap at work. But I refuse to buy new pants yet.

not2- your bike idea was great, and your brooches. Awesome

And the idea of a clothes swap is really good.
When I was on babycenter during my pregnancy women would swap free stuff and coupons all the time.

Re: How do you reward yourself?

I visited charity shops to buy my shrinking clothes sizes, as I did not want to spend much money on clothes that would only fit for a few months. It is amazing how often I found unworn clothes with the shop labels still on them.

Also when my old clothes got too big I donated them to make space for smaller sizes.

Re: How do you reward yourself?

I paid myself $5 a pound lost and put it in a specail acount at the bank. when I shed 100 pounds I could spend it on anything I wanted and then keep adding to the account till I got to goal weight.

I changed my mind so many times on what my reward was going to be that it was always fresh and new to me.
folk laughed when i told them I had $500 availible as my reward for getting thewre and spend less then $100 causae I didn't want to waste it on clothes that were going to be too big in a few months. When I got to goal weight I needed new everything except a winter hat cause my big head never shrunk enough to need one.

I tried for a brief time the reward for 5 pounds and 25 pounds cause a more successful Atkinseer told me I needed mini goals to be a success but they made me crazy trying to get them and then poof they were gone and it was on to the next one

When I reached my mini goals I didnt reward myself in any special way but I surely felt good and was finally happy seeing a slimmer me in the mirror.I would say my reward was to like what I see!
