  • stupid scale

tonight i was feeling sorry for myself, as i weight in this morning and yes, am still at 196.
i have been 196 now for just about 2 weeks. uggggh.

so rather than eating away my progress, i went into my closet and tried on some clothes that i couldn't fit into at christmas time.

i'm happy to say that i MUST be losing inches because i can fit into clothes that i haven't been able to since last june!!! a dress that i crammed myself into at my bridal shower slide on tonight and was comfy!!

my question for you all, is when you found the scale not to be moving but inches being lost.. how long did it take for the scale to catch up and what is the reason behind it not moving?

i should really just stay off the bloody thing for a month. lol

I always figure it's because the day of the week has a "y" in it.

    Have you read:

    This is great!!!

        Inches tell a big story.
On OWL there for a while I lost nothing but I went down 4 sizes. Go figure.
        Congrats on fitting those clothes

Great job on the run! I think I am having the same problem. However much of mine is bloat from muscle repair. I tend to hold about 3-5lbs of water when my muscles are sore. Anyone else get this? When I am training hard like right now (training for a half marathon in May) I inevitably gain 5lbs and it seems to just stay there. I was hoping Atkins would make me immune to that but apparently not. I was on my way down down down and then bump! Right back up where I started. GRRRRRR. I guess I should measure but I am completely sure I am just bloated and its water weight. Times when I don't run as much, I lose quite easily. For some reason perhaps my body is in survival mode or its busy repairing all the training damage I am doing...I wish I knew what was going on in there! I have been very good with my diet - eliminated any extras in an effort to try to isolate a problem but all last week my carbs were between 15-25/day even with all the training and I still didn't lose a thing. No inches either. I hate it when my body does this!!! So depressing.

This is absolutely normal, Michelle. The science behind it has been quoted many times (though my mind doesn't retain the reasoning behind it so I can't quote you chapter and verse.

Suffice it to say that the 'extra' weight IS from your body adding water while repairing your muscles, so is nothing to worry about and as far as I know there is nothing you can do to change this happening (except by not exercising, and there is no advantage in not doing that as we all know )

Thank you so much for your response! I am glad to know that it is normal and not fat weight I am dealing with lol.

I like the article about how scales lie...my scale is probably going to be relegated to the storage shed soon if it keeps it up! Lol. I know that my clothes are looser though so that is what matters!

What would be better? Inches off and clothing fitting be better? Or weight off and clothing fitting tight?

If you have the photos on your computer you can upload them to ADBB and then paste the code for them.
First you need to create an album if you have not already by selecting 'User CP' and scrolling down to 'Pictures and Albums' and clicking on 'create an album' or similar (I am not sure what the command will be)
Once you have an album click on its name and select 'upload photos'.
You will see 3 long boxes with the word 'browse' beside them.
Click on one of the 'browse' words and you will be shown your computer files.
Navigate to your chosen photo, select it and click on 'open'.
The you wil be allowed the choice of naming and saving it.
Once you have the photo on ADBB click on the thumbnail and open the photo up, then click on the line of code starting [img] and rightclick with your mouse and select 'copy'.
Then find or start the post where you want to display the photo and rightclick and select 'paste'. The photo should appear.

                              woo hoo for you.

Since your clothes are falling off be sure you wear a belt or supenders as pants choose the most inopertune time to fall off like when your hands are full of breakabkes and yiou are in public.

if your town has a trift shop check out getting some new stuff but not too much as you are shedding more pounds and will need even smaller sizes soon.
