You are to eat full fat, no sugar added yogurt. In regards to flavored or plain----it depends on your Rung of OWL. If you are on Rung 4, then adding berries (strawberries, blueberries/bilberries, raspberries, etc.) to the plain yogurt is okay. If you are on Rung 7, then it's okay to add peaches, mangoes, plums, etc. to the plain yogurt is okay. But if you have not reached these fruit rungs, then the yogurt you eat is not to contain these fruits----remember, you have to read the ingredients to see if that food is legal for your phase of Atkins and legal for your rung of OWL or Pre-Maintenance.

With that said, you may use extracts like vanilla extract to flavor your yogurt.

Personally, I use yogurt in savory applications like in a cucumber-yogurt-mint raita or as a marinade for chicken...similar to what the Indians do, rather than as a snack food.

I have been doing the same researching carb amounts, having to go to 3 stores to see all the different brands/choices (very hard to find many full fat).
I am surprised to see how much they can vary in carbs. Fage and other Greek style yogurts seem to be the better choices.

I saw a full fat "Mountain high" plain natural yogurt. 1 cup = 17 carbs, and 15 grams of sugar. That really seems high. So a 5 carb serving would be what...about an eye dropper full?...LOL!!!

Re: What kind of yogurt can you eat

I would bet that anything except plain unflavoured yogurt will contain additives that are not Atkins-friendly.

I buy greek yogurt from Lidl and it is cheaper and lower carb (1.8 carbs per 100 gram) than even the FAGE brand.

I use it mainly unsweetened as a savoury dressing for meat, especially curry and spicy meats.

I also use it with berries and on the whole (depending on how ripe they are) don't need to add sweetener. But if I do want it sweeter (if the berries are too tart) I just add some sweetener. I used to use granulated splenda but nowadays I add a few drops of liquid sucralose.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

ok thanks you all have cleared up my question. I really like yogurt as a snack (like a fruity one), so I guess that will have to wait.
