  • How should I Proceed......

    Hi All,

My husband takes me to IHOP almost every Sunday morning. Today I gave in and had one Harvest "n" Nut pancake w/2 tlbs. SF syrup, 2 grilled pork chops, three fried eggs, and coffee with splenda/half n half.

The pancake is the first time I gave in (not calling it cheating-needed something bready) since I started. However, my carb count, 24.7 gr. , is already at the limit. What should I do for dinner? Just eat meat and a little fat to be sure not to add to the carb count? Please Advise.

    Needed?

    Nope ... you "wanted".

Ok, what's eaten is eaten ... now come the consequences ... you might feel like ick for a while ... possibly bloated, weight gain ... since flour pretty much turns to sugar immediately, you'll probably have a blood sugar spike ...

Have lots of water ... and just wait it out. You should continue with your regular Atkins eating.

You really should journal why you made this choice.

You should eat some vegetables with dinner ... since you don't seem to have had any yet ... and have some at lunch, too.

I agree - carry on with your normal plan and just accept that you ate too many of the 'wrong' carbs today.

Keep in mind that you might experience cravings so be prepared to fight them by having some 'legal' food to eat.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Resume your legal on plan OWL atkins enjoying the legal veggies with your dinner protein and fats.

If you want to eat at IHOP then plan based on their website and any food subs your local place will allow you for the foods you will not be eating. If you can't resit then have a Dr Phil talk with your DH about how right now you need him to be part of your atkins support team and be strong for you when you can't and help you avoid temptation by avoiding IHOP until you have progressed on your Atkins cause you want to become a healtheir smaller you so you guys can grow old together.

If you need "bread" add some flax to the mock danish recipe or make flax meal hot cakes induction legal and they look and taste like those harvest pancakes. When you get to rung 3 of OWL you can do almond flour ones too.

Thanks for the adise guys. I will difinitely look into getting some flax meal and think it would help out a great deal. BTW, I did feel bad this afternoon. I even had to take a short nap. The water helped too. Didn't like the way I felt so I probably will not do that again. Yes, I will get the flax meal. LOL.

Also check with your server at IHOP, they often use batter and other carby fillers with their eggs, especially with their omelets. Make sure you asked for "shelled eggs" only when eating there. There's lots of good things you can eat there, sometimes you have to ask for substitutions.

I used to make the mistakes of thinking I just had to have "just one little thing" here and there. And it quickly escalated out of control and contributed to me falling off the wagon. My policy now is to avoid it all together. I'm happier and feel better without those things and am less tempted.
