What veggies not allowed in early OWL

Trying to figure out which vegetables are allowed. For instance on the lists I have looked at green beans are not shown, but I am sure that they are probably allowed, so I am just curious to know which vegetables I should stay away from until the later owl rungs?

The veggies that are allowed are on the Acceptable Induction Food list.
Green beans, string beans are missing from that list, but they are allowed.
I presume you have the book or at least have the list from the stickies on Induction in the Forums above?

Yes I can see what is allowed and I do have the book but I find that some vegetables are missing like the green beans .. how do I know if it is allowed or not?

Green beans are the same thing as string beans. You should be able to find string beans in your book.

There really isn't a "list" of veggies "not" allowed, just what is allowed. Of course, the starchy veggies allowed on the higher rung are not allowed on Induction. If you are not sure, ask here. You will get an answer pretty quickly,

ok I havent been able to find swede, but i found on a carbohydrate counter that it is about 5 per 100g. Is this allowed. Also is there a difference between green peppers (bell) and other colors red, yellow, orange. Thanks!

Swede (rutabaga) is not allowed. It's a starchy vegetable that you can add in OWL Rung 8.

Also is there a difference between green peppers (bell) and other colors red, yellow, orange.

The carb counts will be different, but all peppers are fine.

Greens beans are listed as "string beans" on the induction acceptable foods list.

As for the different colored peppers....they are allowed. If you like chili peppers, they are also allowed because they are peppers.

You can use the USDA Nutritent Database to look up these foods. (Google USDA Nutrient Database....sorry I don't have the link handy.)

That is another problem. The book names veggies with "American" names. I have found from this board that the "British" name for many veggies are words I never heard of until I came here to . So that could be another reason you may not see some veggies listed that you can eat.

"Swede" is the short name ... it's called a "Swedish turnip" in England ...

LOL! If that were the case, you could probably eat one as they are mostly just protein, fat and water.
