  • Protein Shakes?

Do any of you use protein shakes? My friend uses protein powder to make a shake which also has peanut butter and I think maybe a banana in it. I was wondering if any of you make something similar, but legal. If so, what is in it? Thanks

what the rungs mean to me:
    rung 1 - more veggies
rung 2 - dairy (some milk in coffee)
rung 3 - seeds, nuts (mostly sprinkled on salads)
    rung 4 - berries, melon
    rung 5 - wine -
    rung 6 - beans, hummus
    rung 7 - other fruits
rung 8 - carrots/ potatoes (nah, prolly not)
rung 9 - whole grains (fresh Dutch breads...)

    Re: Protein Shakes?

I love them. Use them a lot. I experiment some to try to find the perfect one. They work so great for me after my morning exercise to just make grab and run.

I like one that I make with coffee, whey protein, cocoa, coffee ice cubes, a bit of cream, and some almond milk. It rocks. Only problem everyone in the house wants some when I make it.

I also love a smoothie type pumpkin shake
canned (or frozen pumpkin), tad of cream, almond milk, yogurt, half serving of protein powder, vanilla, cinnamon and some caramel splenda, ice cubes.
Pumpkin probably hard do find where you are. I will experiment with some avocado next.

I use the biggest loser chocolate brand because of the higher fiber content. I add sf soymilk and 1/2 water and sf chocolate syrup and blend it up.

I drink one 1-2x week when I don't want eggs.

what you can add will depend on what rung of OWL you are on. veggie for rung 1 and some yogurt or other fresh cheese on rung 2.
once you get to rung 3 you can add nut butters or nut milk, rung 4 berries or frozen melon, rung 5 well lets not go there, rung 6 you could add soy oother legumes to thinken it if you wanted, rung 7 those bananas or other fruits and rung 9 some grains or a sugar free granola for crunch.

Oh those sound like good ideas Liv.... but what is "caramel splenda," ? I tried to look it up on google, but the best I could find was Coffee flavorings, and Caramel is no longer available

I meant Caramel DaVinci. Sorry. I think of it as splenda I guess. I could not make it without Caramel DaVinci. Love it with pumpkin and love it with pancakes.

Hi Liv, do you make the coffee ice cubes? Do you just freeze black coffee? Sounds delish. I have been having vanilla protein powder with water after my workouts... not very tasty but stops me from wanting to eat, eat, eat when I get home!! I think I will start making them myself though as have seen where I can buy the powder here.

I do make them. I always have a tray of coffee ice cubes in the freexer. And yes I freeze nice strong black coffee.
Yeah vanilla protein with water is probably not too tasty. I can actually not do my whey powder without adding fat to it. I get a sugar rush so I need a bit of cream with it.

Thanks Liv. I definitely prefer it with cream but at my gym they only offer milk or water. I am going to start making them myself now starting with your coffee one today Thanks again.
