  • Banana!

Well I fit banana into my nutrition for the day and expected it to give me cravings, but it didn't. I think it's because I combined it with protein instead of eating it alone. I had a half of one, smashed, in yogurt that I doctored with sugar-free vanilla syrup, peanut butter, and cocoa powder. And a mini bran muffin. I'm so full. And happy.

And for the skeptics, my carbs for the dish are
    6 net for the banana (30 g)
1 net for cocoa powder (1 Tbs of Hershey's Special Dark)
2 net for peanut butter (1 Tbs)
1.75 net for the yogurt (1/4 cup Fage)
    Total =10.75

And my carbs for OWL are 40 net.
So from vegetables, I ate ~30 carbs.

Oh and the bran muffin I made with flax and eggs, with a total of 2 carbs. And I make them very tiny, about the size of half a cupcake so I can enjoy them as an accompaniment to my veggie meals since they have plenty of fat, fiber, and protein.

Ahhh I am so happy I can eat "normal" fruits on this WOE. I feel invincible.

        Re: Banana!

Congrats! I just tried a bit of banana for the first time today. We'll see how this works out. I was amazed that I didn't want to eat the entire thing. I stuck with the right portion... I hope I have favorable results just as you have.

        Congrats again.

Before you do make sure you look up the carb count of banana (it is sky hight) and portion it out. With my CCLL Banana is not something I eat. Just too carby.
But a tiny bit in yogurt or a smoothy sounds feasible.

              Good for you!

I toss banana slices into my food dehydrator and make banana chips---they are candy-like in sweetness, so I use them sparingly. It also solves the problem of storing the rest of that banana.

                  According to the USDA database

1/4 of a small (6.5"-7") banana has about 5 net carbs

I put 1 oz of raw banana into fitday.com
                    and got 6.5 carbs - .7 fiber = 5.8 carbs...

So less than 1 oz per Fitday.

Not sure what an oz of banana looks like. But a 1/4 of a small banana...so little. I will just make sure I only buy one banana for the week I try adding bananas.

                        Hi Kjel-
Yeah, the carbs in a banana are pretty high.
That banana could last a week like you said!

You can go into Fitday and play with the amounts, they have a lot of measuring choices, they also have a choice of linear inch. Probably the easier way to go.
One ounce would be on a food scale, and probably not very much.
