  • Soy milk

hi guys, diets going great! However I have introduced full fat Greek yoghurt at 6.7g of carbs for every 100g, which hasn't seemed to stall me (only having a little with strawberrys). So I thought I'd give soy milk I go, although the unsweetend made me GAG, the sweet has really grown on me! It has around 6g of carbs every 250ml, but I'm only using tiny proportions for cooking, few drops here and there. Do you think this sounds okay?

Also, I've spotted low carb bars, they sound too good to be true?

So where in OWL are you exactly?

Greek yogurt is allowed in OWL Rung 2... but at 6.7 carbs, it seems quite carby to me. Did it have something added to it? What were the ingredients?

And since you add a new food in 5 net carb amounts, you would be allowed to eat only 75 g of this yogurt, to start with... assuming it contains no starchy thickeners, sugar, etc.

Strawberries are not allowed until you reach OWL Rung 4.

Technically, soy milk is only allowed in OWL Rung 6.

It's not only the net carbs that are important. You should check the net carbs AND the list of ingredients.

If there's added sugar in the soy milk, then it's not a good choice.

They are not real food... and Atkins is about eating real food, not products.

Why would you like to add such bars to your plan?

      Re: Soy milk

Fully aware of the rungs, been on the diet 61 days now as the alcohol and nut rungs didn't interest me, I skipped them. I'll stick to taking the yogurt, it hasn't stalled my weight loss.

Lucya, in your profile it says that your Atkins phase is '14-day Induction'. This is confusing when you are on OWL.

Have you tried unsweetened almond milk? It's pretty wonderful, and allowed on the nut rung. I know you skipped it, but it's worth revisiting for almond milk (and possibly healthier than soy I believe).

I buy Greek Gods Greek Yogurt and it's only 5 carbs per half cup. It's pretty wonderful stuff. Think Fage. It's the density of sour cream and a little goes a long way.

            Re: Soy milk

i would avoid soy milk because soy milk is not properly fermented to get all the toxins out and is not safe to eat. also i would avoid all soy in general cause chances are its not fermented properly and also avoid soy lethicin and food items that just say lethicin cause chances are its soy lethicin

              Re: Soy milk

I drink unsweetened soymilk. Hopefully I won't die from the lack of fermenatation ziggy has mentioned

I drink it occasionally with sf chocolate syrup. I put 4 oz in my protein shake this morning. A 1/2 gallon lasts a few weeks.

An 8 oz serving has 3 grams net carbs. I have not tried almond milk. I think it had more net carbs than the sf soy when I compared them.

Stay away from the low carb bars.
