  • Could It Have Been the Flax Seed.....

    Hi all,

I did not weigh in last week TOM on, why bother. I weighed in today and found I gained 4lbs back this week. Honestly, I am mortified! I did have a little alcohol (alcohol) this weekend; however I have added flax seed to my diet for the extra fiber. Tried the hot cakes recipe and as coating for oven fried chicken--which was terrible dont try it.

I read in the DANDR that alcohol will postpone weight loss, but not make you gain. So, it had to be the addition of the flax seed.

The only other change I can think of is that I beefed up my exercise routine, but I don't think a week and a half of exercise is enough to pack on 4lbs of muscle. I am dropping the alcohol and flax seed and going back into induction for a week and see what happens. I really want out of the 200's and I was almost there!

Unless you are retaining that extra flax (constipation) I think it might be more a question of your rung 5 addition if you were losing fine before adding alcohol back in.

Additionally when we increase our exercise the body retains water to 'mend' the muscle damage (which is how we build muscle and is perfectly normal).

Rather than retreat to induction you would be better to go back down one rung of the carb ladder and drop your net carbs by 5 as Dr Atkins suggested.

Then try adding 5 more net carbs of one of the lower rungs (1-4) to see if your body can cope with the extra carbs, then try alcohol again if you like and see if that stops your losing progress.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

How much flax meal did you have?

Flax is a rich source of soluble fiber. It attracts water, and until it passes through you, you might see an increase in the number on the scale. It's not fat... and also you don't need to be constipated for this to happen.

      How did you inches change?

could be fluid being held by the flax as it transitions from mouth to rearend and it could be the new to you exercise causing fluid retention.

as Georgiana said how did your inches change downward meaning body fat is still being shed or did it go up too?

Actually, I went up in inches too. The flax seed and exercising explanations make sense--I am extremely sore. After one week of induction or a step down on the rungs and total net carbs I should be fine. I will relax a little. Thanks for the information.
