  • My plans for the weekend.

I am moving to the alcohol rung on Saturday. I am really not a big drinker any way, but I am going to have some cocktails on Saturday. Its one of those things that I am looking forward to. Here is my plan:

    1. I will buy 3 single shot bottles of whiskey.
    2. I will skip my splenda in my coffee in the morning.
    3. I am going to grill some burgers.
    4. I am going to have 3 drinks or diet rite and whiskey while I grill.
    5. I will probably want a nap afterwards because I rarely drink.
    6. It will be fun.

I will not get 5 carb grams of alcohol, but does that mean I can add 5 more grams of other allowed veggies or berries on days I have no alcohol?(which will be often, I refuse to add alcohol 3 times a week, but am grateful I can have a drink on a saturday when I BBQ!)

How did it go Saturday? You need to see how one thing effects you at a time. If you introduce the alcohol AND berries at the same time and then stall or have cravings, you won't know which one is causing it. If you already have berries in your diet, I think it would be safe to have them.

When I have introduced something that wasn't going to be a regular staple in my diet, I tried to just really pay attention to how my body responded to it. For example, I tried pineapple and wow, did I ever have cravings after that. I didn't have to eat it more than once to know it was a problem. So the next time I had it (which was recently), I had just 2 small pieces in addition to other foods (cottage cheese). That was fine.

Ok, I am rambling so I will leave it at that! Good luck.

Re: My plans for the weekend.

that is your plan for this coming saturday?

first off how about just one drink while you grill so you can see how alcohol effects you when low carbing. Many folk have discovered too late that less alcohol in their system is needed to cause them to feel intoxicated when they are low carbing. If you discover you are hansling it fine then have an other one. if not put them away for some other day.
Also make sure you have legal for you snacks ready to consume whaile you are grilling as many folk have also discovered that alcohol effects what they allow to enter their mouths.

Yes you can add any previously conquored foods as part of your new carb count if you will not be consuming all the carbs allowed from the new rung.

if you look in your DANDR chapter 14 Dr Atkins talks ab0ut for somebody who just finished rung more either adding soem fresh chesh or even more veggies oif they are a veggie lover.

I added berries this week, I will only move to rung 5 if by Saturday I am < 235. This Saturday will be adding alcohol, I haven't weighed my self since Saturday, So I don't know my weight as of now, but I know I am losing inches. I understand alcohol can slow weight loss, thats why I am only adding once a week, and probably not every week. I just want to celebrate my reaching minigoal 2 if I get there by Saturday.

Re: My plans for the weekend.

When we drink alcohol, the first thing that get's impaired is our judgement.

I went to Las Vegas and had my first drink the weekend before last. One thing led to another and my food choices diminished quickly. Long story short is that I gained five pounds over that weekend. I just re-lost those five pounds and am back on track, but I haven't drank since.

          Be careful!

You're not a failure until you quit trying.

Restarted Dr Atkins Diet January 2 2010.
Next mini goal is to get under 300 lbs. Done! 3/8/10
Next mini goal is to make it three months without alcohol. Started 1/1/10 Done!
Next mini weight goal is 289. Done! 4/4/10
Next mini goal is 278 -50 Lbs
Eventually, I'd like to join the century club.

I Hear you loud and clear. I will be careful. I plan on only buying enough to enjoy the BBQ (about 3 drinks) I will make sure I am diligent. I may write a note and put on the fridge and cupboard that says,"Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels" I know its kind of girlie, but it will help me stay on plan. Thanks for the heads up, I hadn't even thought of that being a possible issue. I'm gonna give you a rep point for that advice!
