  • carb hangover symptoms

i am in owl rung one. last night i went to the gym and saw a movie afterward without eating in between because i dont like to eat after 8. I was starving after the movie around midnight and went home and ate 3 huge salads. all the foods were legal but likely in illegal quantities bc i didn't measure anything out due to hunger. anyway, i think i overdid it because this morning I have carb hangover symptoms... bloat, sore throat, mucous buildup, indigestion. My ketostix are still dark this morning, but i know that cheats don't show up until a few days later.

My question is, from experience, what are the most common carb hangover symptoms? My instant symptom is mucous buildup in my throat. Is this a carb thing or an allergy thing?

edit: sorry, i don't know how to move this to the OWL thread

Ketosticks don't show "cheats" at all, really. They're not for showing how you react to a food.

Is it possible you're just sick?

Why don't you like to eat after 8? If you had eaten between the gym and the movie, you might have not had to eat so much at midnight. Lesson learned, don't you think?

I eat strictly at 8:00, 1:00, and 6:30 because i find that strict meal times really helps my control. I find that snacking can really derail me. I am also sensitive to a lot of triggers. I don't think Im sick because I always seem to get mucuous buildup from carbs and sore throats whenever I've dieted in the past. Not sure why, but I suspect it is a hydration issue.

How much water do you drink?

        How did that work yesterday?

/agree with atkinsgal... Having a "strict" meal time is okay, as long as you allow for days when you can't eat at "meal time". Life is about living and making comprimises. On a day when you aren't going to be able to eat at your strict meal time, make sure you get a meal or a small meal in there somewhere. It might mean you are less hungry for a later meal, but that's ok.

Also Dr. Atkins tells us not to go more than 6 waking hours without eating. It is also reccomended that we have 5-6 smaller meals a day. It can help to control blood sugar spikes (down/up)

Thanks guys. Yeah, I definitely learned my lesson yesterday to be a little flexible in certain situations. I should have known, especially since I worked out, that I would be hungry beyond control. I also should have had snacks prepared for run and go situations like the one I had last night.

I think Im experiencing a mild carb hangover. Thankfully it's not too severe, and I hope I have not fallen out of ketosis.

The more "flexible" you are the less likely you are to "break".

It could just be you ate too late. I hate to eat late because I feel funny in the morning loaded down with food. I actually go to bed hungary.

If you feel bad drink lots of water, more than usual. That always makes me feel better...but full.
