  • Moving up... maybe.

    I think I am ready to move up to rung 6, but I do not like beans. Can I move up in carbs only, or do I need to add the legumes? I am not really worried about having a sensitivity to beans, because I don't eat them unless I am forced to at gunpoint.
    Age-36 years old
    Height- 5'11( I tell short people I am 6'0. they'll never know)
    All time high- 274 (Feb 2010)
    Atkins Start date- 2-26-2010
    Start weight- 274
    1st Minigoal- 250(reached 3-25-2010)
    2nd Minigoal- 235(reached 4-22-2010)
    3rd Minigoal- 219 (that would make me no longer obese)
    Goal- 200

    You do not have to eat them if you do not think they will be part of your diet when you reach maintenance.
    You can add another five carb of veggies or just jump to rung 7 if you like

      Do you like peas, lentils or peanuts? they are legumes too and could be added on rung 6.
      Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

        It looks like in the book peas is listed with starchy vegetables if I remember it correctly. But I think botanically it is certainly a legume. Hmmm I never thought about that before. I added my peas with the starchy veggies

          You are right, Liv - green peas ARE listed in DANDR on the starchy veg rung! As I don't like them I never added them anyway, but always assumed they would be on the legume rung
