  • How does one know if they are out of ketosis?

Not that I am worried that I am, I just haven't run across much info about this....or maybe I'm dense, lol.

I know that we don't always lose, and that our bodies do what they want, when they want regardless of sticking close to our Atkins-friendly menus.

    Any insight?

If you follow Atkins correctly, then you will be (for shorter times) in ketosis even in Pre-Maintenance and Maintenance, because a lot of our calories will be still coming from fat and that fat needs to be used. Dr. Atkins defined ketosis simply as using primarily fat for energy.

In Pre-Maintenance, for example, if you are going in and out of ketosis, you won't know when during the day you're in ketosis and when you aren't.

Now, if one eats cake (or whatever), then that's a different story.
