  • US shopping...I'm from Canada!!

    Hi everyone, I am headed to the US border today to shop and wondering if anyone has any ideas as what to buy that we can't get here in Canada.

    Thanks in advance,
    Tracy =)

    Hi Tracey, I'm in Canada too and recently travelled to Florida. They do have quite a bit more products than we do but I found they were mostly candy. Since made with sugar alcohols, and eating too many will cause alot of grief (i speak from experience, i had a run-in with a bag of sugarfree turtles!) I didn't buy that many. Plus we have alot of Russell Stover stuff here so it wasn't a big deal.

    Two things i did come home with though that I loved was Carbwell Oreos. I only had one once in a while and they didn't cause me any digestive issues (like i said i stuck with ONE). The other product I found that I liked was at Walmart, it was the Z-Carb bar. It's made with Erithryol (sp?) and didn't bother my stomach. I found Walmart had quite a big selection.

    A product I looked for when down there that I looked for and never did find and was dying to try was Diet Rite. It's a pop that's sweetened with Splenda and comes in different flavours.

    Also I brought home alot of drink mixes, Pina Colada, Margarita, Daquiri mixes that are sugar free. Have never seen them here either other than mail order. You add your own alcohol to them so you can choose to add it or leave it out. They're bottled and you just blend with crushed ice. Haven't tried them yet, weather hasn't been nice enough!

    I was only down there for 5 days so I didn't have a chance to really look around too much, maybe someone from the states could give you a better idea of foods other than candy.

    Good luck!
