I don't know if and when could I start using this. Could I? I think it as a much healthier sweetener than any artificial stuff (no splenda around here).

I've never really liked the taste of carob, even the sweetened kind.
I don't know how many carbs there are in plain carob, but are you able to eat Lindt's 85% cocoa chocolate? It tastes better than carob, and with every 10g square, there are only 2g carb (there are 10 squares in that block of Lindt chocolate. The sugar taste is overshadowed by the bitterness of the chocolate and the rich cocoa butter makes you feel more satisfied so you don't feel like eating as many squares30yo F 5'5 (166cm)

I'd add it in the nut/seed rung.

All right, thanks - I think I will try it out soon! I like the taste actually.
and hmmmm... never seen the Lindt chocolate either. but I live practically in the middle of nowhere, so no wonders...
Oh, and I put it into fitday and there was only cup-measure (I'd use maybe a Tbs at time) - but I estimated it to be around 2 carbs per T.
If anyone knows better, please tell so.female/33/5'

actually a memeber of the legume family
just be careful when you do use it as it is not like most nuts and seeds in that it is almost fat free and most of the cals come from carbs like most legumes or beans.by the book atkinseer

legume? :confused
I skipped that rung actually as I couldn't think of any legumes I eat. Not my kind of foods (I think it's a national thing). Now I just don't know... I can't go "back", can i? Maybe just not worth the trouble.female/33/5'

you can always add a food from a lower rung to your OWL the ranking is by GI and so legumes are lower them the fruits you are on and should therefore not bother you. However each individual food can effect you the individual even if it doesn't effect others so treat carob powder like a new to you food and only try it 3 days the first week you introduce it and oif you have cravings or weight loss stappage drop it. you can try it again later in your Atkins plan.

thanks, 2big and cleo!
I shall wait for as while more before trying this, as I'm working with kiwi-fruit this week.
the sugar content seems very high per 100g. But then I checked my bag, which is 100g exactly and I think it lasts for months...female/33/5'
