  • Measuring and vegetable questions

I have new to this cooking stuff and measuring, so please excuse my lack of knowledge on the subject. But Im trying to understand how to measure things like tomatoes and celery according to the acceptable food list for induction. According to fitday, 4 one inch strips of celery is 1 gram, and one slice of a tomato is 4 grams of carbs. Thats what i did on induction. The 1 cup of celery thing in the acceptable foods kinda confused me, unless i cut the celery up in small pieces to measure one cup. On fitday one slice of tomato is 4 grams of carbs. Is there a sticky on this info.

I comtemplating going to rung 1 on the vegetables this week. But if i wanted to increase on lettuce and tomato would that be considering OWL or extended induction?

    Thanks for any info.

Most here use the measuring cup. To convert into grams I dont know maybe someone else does.
If you want to add the extra vegis then you need to move to OWL rung 1. I stayed there a long time because i didnt want to move up but just wanted the extra vegis.

Extended Induction= prolonging your 14 day Induction beyond the minimum 14 days. You still follow the Rules of Induction. Your foods are limited to the Induction Acceptable Foods List.

OWL= 2nd phase of the Atkins Nutritional Approach. You see if you can increase your carbs to your personal Critical Carbohydrate Losing Level and you re-introduce food groups.

Modified OWL = Combination of Induction and OWL, in which you keep your carbs to your Induction level, while exchanging 5 net carbs of your Induction foods for 5 net carbs of OWL foods. You follow the OWL Rules for adding the foods and you follow the OWL carb ladder.

Todd, do you have a set of scales? I know there are a rare few who measure their foods using scales
