hi Carolyn, I'm going to move this thread to the OWL/Pre-Maintenance Board so the folks over there can give you advice.
But briefly, there's nothing to be scared of moving onto the the other phases. In fact, moving through those phases will help you out during Maintenance because it's during those phases that you will learn how many carbs your body can tolerate and the kinds of foods you will be able to eat.
The biggest mistake alot of people make, imo, is staying on Induction to the very end. When they finally get to maintenance, they're lost because they never took the time to learn about their bodies.~Megs~

well first since Megs moved you I'm assuming it was in the induxction board. DId you do OWL? if not then you have a lot of work to do. The first addition is more of those yummy induction veggies so how can you gain it all back eating more of those? Remember as we add back the carbs we slightly lower the amount of other foods we are eating because we are still just feeding our hunger at the time we are eating and not the room in our belly nor eating everything on the plate cause it is allowed.
Many folk don't grasp that Atkins is caloerie control through carbohydrate control by Dr Atkins and self control of the fats and proteins to only feed the hunger.
As you procress up the carb ladder found in chapter 14 you are going to see that your fats percent comes down to around 55% by the time you have reached the 5-10 pound limit and need to start premaintenance. You will notice in premaintenance the appetite suppression of Induction and OWL is gone but since you have spent all that time practicing portion control and only feeding your hunger you are ready to accept that responsibility and continue your weight loss jopurney to goal at least in theory. ( I ran back to OWL when I first experienced it at the 10 pounds to go mark and hid until i only had 5 pounds to go :sadblinky )
So start the great food experiment if you haven't already seeing how your body reacts to the different food grouops on the OWL rungs and as you add a controlled amount of carbs back to your diet. Take careful notes and realize you will need to repeat your testing to identify if it is that food food group or the carb increase that effected your craving control and weight loss.

Hi Carolyn :wave
I hesitated a lot before moving to OWL but have found it fairly simple to follow.
If you haven't already read through the stickies on the OWL board try to find time to do so and perhaps copy/paste them to a file on your computer and print them so you can ponder over them and understand how to get started.
You know the regular visitors to OWL are more than willing to give you any help and support that we can so if you can't understand anything just ask here. :hug
Just as any new inductionee finds it confusing to get started you will gradually learn the new rules and will I am sure carry on losing till you are ready to move to premaintenance and on to goal :yesWondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

Hey Carolyn, I bumped this thread up coz I was curious to see how you are managing OWL... we get so few posters talking about how their OWL is going (unless they mention in a journal), and I wanted to know how you were travelling up the rungs... you know, maybe me and some of the other OWLers can get some hints/tips from how you approaching it?30yo F 5'5 (166cm)
