I dropped a hurricane shutter on my foot and broke a bone and did some tissue damage. The bone & the tissue won't heal.

Without exercise my weight loss is zero. It is so true :nod when Dr. A. says exercise is non-negotiable.

Good luck with your foot as well!!

since you have slightly changed the subject not only will you find without exercise youar cals need to be klowered but your tolerance for carbs will go down too. I had to drop mine abot 60% when I had knee surgery last yr.

          Happy OWling to you guys.

            LOL way kewl!!! :dancing

Short people UNITE!!! I feel like it takes us longer to get the fat off, don't you? And on some of the exercises, moderate on a normal person is almost killer for me. When I was in the Army, we had to march taking 13" steps. I got yelled at alot LOL :censor but I made it through!

Wow! I didn't know that. I only thought I had to drop calories. I will go back down on carbs for sure!!!!!

Thanks 2Big. How has your recovery been and are you backup to regular carb consumption now?

Weight loss has always been a struggle. I think short people bear an extra burden because 10 pounds gained looks like 20 on us. There's just not as much height to distribute the weight. But we're cute so we make up for it, LOL!!

Stair stepping is a much more intense exercise for my short legs. I agree with you on that too!!

OWL is a balancing act of carbs, fat and calories. If I have something fatty for a main course, I tend to lower the fat on the sides and dessert. For example, if I eat chicken in a creamy sauce, I don't generously butter my steammed green beans. Or if I eat creammed spinach, I balance it out with a lean meat, like roast turkey breast or chicken breast. Ditto for the "desserts" I eat. If I have something fatty, like creammed spinach, I'll use maybe a tablespoon of whipped cream on my berries or fruit.

The calories come into play during OWL too. Technically, you don't have to count calories, if you've learned to listen to your body and eat only the amount you need to last 6 hours. But after years of overeating, I still find I need to make a conscious effort to eat only enough and if I get sloppy, well, you can guess what happens. That's why I think it's better to stay on Rung 1 to find your CCLL---let's face it, there aren't very many 200 calorie veggies in it. Once you find your CCLL, you can move up the ladder trying out different foods with the comfort of knowing you aren't overdoing the carbs.

Megs, you're always full of wonderful advice. I had gotten to the berries rung and started gaining. I saw one of your posts where you stated that you stayed on veggies until you found your CCLL. It made so much sense to me! So I'm doing the same thing. :nod

And what would I do without Fitday?!?!? I access it from work, plug in what I had for breakfast and what I'm having for lunch. Then I know what I can/can't have for dinner to stay within my calories/carbs/fats percentages.

Since I'm such a SLOW loser, it will take me awhile. :anger
