  • Would someone please review my menu- not sure if its working

Hey guys I just wanted to know if my menu sounds ok.

Breakfast I would normally have scrambled eggs- a poached egg or a fried egg most of the times with bacon.

Lunch- I have been having salads with no dressing

Dinner- Chicken salad- steak with mixed vegetables ( no carb vegetables)
and also mince with vegetables in it.

I am drinking no caffine- having rasberry leaf tea- and rasberry and peach tea.

I am not sure where I am going wrong I jumped on the scales at day 5 and it seemed I had only lost 2 pounds- Does still sound right for 7 days?

Also to add- I am not doing any exercise- have had the cold and havent felt like it. but will be doing it soon. Maybe I need to do introdcution longer?

Doesn't look like much food to me :yikes
Can you list quantities and which actual vegetables you had?

Why no dressing with the salad? You might be having too much protein compared to fat - this is a highfat diet - not a highprotein WOE :no

Have you entered the list into www.fitday.com to see what your percentages are? We aim at 65% fat/30% protein/5% carbs on induction.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

        Hi Sky,

It IS important to include fats in your meals. Fats not only come in the form of butter, oil and on meat, it also comes hidden in omega-3s in fish like salmon, monounsaturated in avocado, and in cheese.

I can definitely confirm that some days I eat nearly 3,000 cals (like double what I should be eating for my height & weight, but because I have 65% fats or more, I actually still lose weight.

As the mods say, it IS important to have 65% fats, 30% protein and 5% carbs

        Cheers

For Lunch the Salad is a dinner plate size worth of lettuce
My need to add I have cheese- onions and also tomatoes with it.

For my dinners- I have cauliflower-brocolli- beans- carrots- spinach.
          Mixed Vegetables (frozen)

I am a meat lover so love having big sized steaks/chops etc

I cook the meat in alot of fat also

I am also taking Flax Seed capsules and drinking more then 8 glasses I would say a day (have a sipper bottle with me at all times)

Your percentages should all add up to 100%...(65fats+30protein+5carbs=100)so this isn't making sense.

Check them out on fitday, as it lays it all out nicely for you.

What stage of Atkins are you on? I thought you said Induction....if so, carrots are not allowed.
              Many things concern me here...

You said 'no carb vegetables'...I don't think there is such a thing.

You said you had a 'dinner plate size worth of lettuce' -was it iceberg? Iceberg has little to no nutritional value..try romaine, leaf or raw spinach so your body gets more nutrients and fiber.
You need the fat from the dressing, so get some Italian, ranch or blue cheese and drizzle it on.

Also, are you staying within your 3 cups of veggies a day limits?

I have to ask you if you've read Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, version 2002 (DANDR for short)? If you haven't, you need to get yourself a copy and give it a read, paying particular attention to the chapter on Induction.

If you do have the book, take a few moments and review Induction, the Rules, and the Acceptable Foods list.

Two pounds gone is two pounds gone :yes but you need to make sure you're following the plan as Dr. Atkins laid it out in order to get the best results.

Ah...yes, the 'no carb vegetables' makes sense now...lol

So your carbs were a bit low there, as you can see, but you did great on fat and protein....you can up the carbs by choosing slightly higher carb veggies from the lists.

Looks like you're doing great...just keep on doing what you're doing (no more carrots though!) and post a few more menus and we'll see how you are doing, ok? :yes

                      Hey Moochiecat xxx

LOL sorry for my errors- posting at 2am in the morning is not the brightest Idea in the world.

I will up the carbs by adding some more higher carb veggies like you have said.

No more carrots for me!! LOL

                          June 7's menu right?

You're still on Induction right? that means you need to limit sour cream to 2-3 tablespoons a day.

If it's the June 6 one you're talking about...

did you eat 4 cups of bacon in one go? i hope not - that's a lot of bacon... and you'll need to keep in mind 3 cups veggies daily :yes

do you know that peas is a no-no on Induction? It is also limited in OWL as it can only be eaten in a much higher rung because of it's carb content

                            hey tickletussler,

Yes june 7 im talking about- 4 cups of bacon would have been what you saw on the previous day- Its meant 4 slices.
and the sour cream- I dont know how to put it into teaspoons- It was only 3 teaspoons on top of meal.
The 4 cups of lean beef was in my main meal.
Gosh I though green beans where in the induction *blushes*

String beans are allowed during Induction...they are on the 1 cup veggie list as 'string or wax beans'.
