  • My Menu for Thursday 6/16

    Good day all...

    Breakfast:
    Mock Danish (3)
    Water (16 oz bottle)
    Multi-vitamin

    Lunch
    Chicken and BLT Salad
    1 C chopped lettuce (.5)
    3 strips bacon chopped (0)
    4 grape tomatoes, chopped (3)
    1/2 grilled chicken breast, cut into strips (0)
    2 T ranch dressing (1)
    Water (16 oz bottle)


    Snack
    1/2 bottle Snapple Diet Peach Tea (1)
    1 stick string cheese (1)

    Dinner
    Grilled chicken breast (0)
    1 C broccoli and cauliflower mix, steamed, w/butter (3)
    Small tossed salad
    1 C chopped lettuce (.5)
    2 slices cucumber (0)
    1/4 c shredded cheese (1)
    sprinkling of sliced radishes (0)
    2 T ranch dressing (1)

    snacks:
    protein bar, string cheese if I'm hungry and need a little something.

    Hi there. I'm not sure what level of Atkins you're doing. If it's induction, I see more than 3 cups of veggies. I'm not sure what the Snapple is sweetened with, or what's in it for that matter (like, is there real peach juice in it, if so a no no for induction). Same thing with the protein bar. If there are ingredients in it not on the acceptable food list, you should avoid it for your two week induction period. Other then that, it looks pretty good. Without plugging everything in to fitday and looking, you might be a little low on fat.

      OK, never got the protein bar or the string cheese in, so that doesn't figure into my counts. In the posting it lists Chicken BLT Salad, and then underneath it is what I put in that salad, just in case anyone misreads it. Next time I will try to be more clear, just in case.

      I still come up with 15 g carbs, possibly 16 (17 at most) if you want to figure in the 2 thin cucumber slices and the 4 tiny tomatoes. Never got arount to the radishes either, since they were yucky when I got them out of the crisper drawer, and I ended up throwing them away. :sarcasm The Snapple is sweetened with Sucralose, which I totally forgot to check when I bought it. I drank about 1/4 C of it and then it sat on the counter and got warm while I made lunch for my son. (I do that alot) I ended up throwing the rest of it out.

      I posted before I actually had eaten dinner, because I was going out and knew dinner would be late. I had a grilled chicken breast half, about half of a dinner salad with 2 T ranch dressing (I picked out the onion rings, tomatoes, croutons and crackers) and I got in about half a cup of broccoli because my girlfriend kept picking off my plate. So, I came in OK, I think.

      I try to keep my measurements accurate and within guidelines, but I don't sweat it if I go 2 Tablespoons over my veggie count with broccoli and cucumbers. Eating veggies isn't what got me fat in the first place....my crappy eating and BAD sugar habits did it to me. I also am aware that I am an emotional eater, and I eat to celebrate, to de-stress, etc. I'm trying to find other avenues.

      I will try in the future to stay well within the guidelines. I am on Day #8 and I am down 11 pounds, so I must be doing SOMETHING right somewhere. :joy Plus, I had my first "whooshie" moment this week, and dropped 4 pounds in the last two days. So far, so good.
