  • Fiber Question

I just received some bread which I ordered from Controlled Carb Gourmet. It says it has 7g of carbs, 7g of fiber, 0 sugar for a net 0 carb count.......my question is this, assuming this really is 0 net carb bread, do I have to be overly concerned with how many grams of fiber I eat per day? keeping in mind, I am not looking to eat 10 slices a day anyway but just wondering if too much fiber is a problem.......I am not in induction but basically about 6-7 weeks into this Atkins approach already. I have lost 15 pounds (278-263) which is slower than I hoped but acceptable. I would just hate to sabotage unknowingly by adding 20-30g of fiber per day.

    Thanks

    Re: Fiber Question

Some people have experienced problems with this. I remember G-mom (?) posted about it awhile back in the Main Forum (I think). Basically the rule of thumb I use is something I stole from weight watchers. I only subtract the first 4g of fiber, and everything else I count. You could maybe experiment and find your own "level" to work with. Sometimes I don't trust labels. They know we're counting net carbs and they're doing everything possible to boost the fiber to make it a 0 net carb product. Whether or not this is actually better for us doesn't matter at this point because they've already got our money!

You don't have to be too concerned about eating too much fiber, I don't think. SEems to me that the recommended daily allowance of fiber is 25 grams......
