    Re: I feel like crying

When you're hungry, it's fine to go ahead and eat! Sometimes your body needs to have more. You might try avoiding more of the high sodium stuff (pepperoni, sardines.. not sure about the pork rinds on that?) and add in more veggies or a salad.

Are you using fitday? It's great for giving you an idea of what calories you've burned in a day. This way you'll know if you're going far over that (so far, I'd really doubt it!) or are still under it.

Maybe this will help to cheer you up?

I was in a chat with Drs. Mike and Mary Dan Eades (authors of the Protein Power series) a while ago, and they told the story of a patient of theirs who was not losing weight and after analyzying her diet they found out why. She was consuming 4,000 calories a day! What amazed them was the fact that she wasn't GAINING weight. So yes, there really IS a metabolic advantage! But it's an ADVANTAGE not an FREE PASS.

Obviously most people can't get away with eating that much and not gain any weight, and most of the time you want to keep the calories within reason.

EAT when you need to. Just keep track of it so you don't go overboard.

ps - if you're not using fitday, check out these tools to help figure your calories used. http://www.countcarbs.com/tools/index.htm

Keep in mind that the Basal Metabolic Calculator is the *minimum* requirement your body needs just to function. It doesn't including calories you burn doing any kind of daily activities.

Back again. Here's an article on the theory behind your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate).

You might be able to eat below your BMR sometimes, and your individual bmr may be different than what the estimate on the calculator shows (sometimes a little off/sometimes a lot), but overall be sure to be eating *enough* food an a regular basis.

                Re: I feel like crying

Every so often I have 'hungry' days where I can constantly nibble from morning to night. I figure it's more a boredom thing so I try (oh lord do I try..lol) to channel it towards something constructive like housework or a craft. When I do have a nibble, I'll have protein/fat combos and really talk to myself about how there's no reason why I should be hungry after eating it. I try and stay as pro-active as I can on those dangerous 'hungry' days.

Mind you, when you run a completely Atkins-friendly kitchen it's a little hard to stray away from Atkins-friendly food, but portion control is still very important.
