  • New Again

I'm new to the site but not to Atkins.

I followed the plan about 3 years and did quite well - but fell off and gained it all back plus

I'm on my 3day of induction and I wanted to run my meal plan - trying to avoid all those "legal cheats" I learned towards the end of my last experience on Atkins.

I love the plan, know it works for me, and really want to go all the way this time.

    Yesterday's Menu
    Breakfast:
two slices of roasted turkey breast
    Coffee with cream and sweetener

    Lunch:
    Tin of Solid Tuna
    2 Tbsp Mayo
    2 cups Romaine Lettuce

    Snack:
2 oz of Lean Kolbasa (sp?)

    Dinner:
5 oz Lean BBQ'd Centercut Pork Chop
2 cups of Broccoli w/ butter

    Snack:
1 cup of sugar free Jello
    1 oz of Moza Cheese

    Water:
    8oz

(I'm trying really hard to cut out the coffee normally consume 3-4 cups a day, and lowering my cheese...I'm a cheese monster and knows it stalls)

I recorded consumed food on fitday, ended up with 21 grams of Carbs for the day (damn Jello) the ratio pie showed my protein consumption about the same percentage as fat, and carbs just at a sliver. is this normal for the fat level to be so high.

Look forward to hearing any suggestions - I really want to do this RIGHT this time.

    Hi Andrea
It looks like you have gone over on your veggies: 2 cups of the 2-cup list plus 1 of the 1-cup list is the induction allowance.
It would be better to spread them throughout the day by having some with breakfast to even out any insulin spikes.
How many servings of sweetener did you have? only 3 are allowed per day.
And was the jello sweetened with aspartame (discouraged by Dr A) or one of the allowed ones?
If your ratios are equal for fat and protein you need to add some fat and perhaps lessen the protein as we aim for 65% fat/30% protein/5% carbs on induction. Maybe buy meat with more fat next time?
Did you really only have 8 oz of water the whole day? You need to be drinking a minimum of 64 oz plus 8 oz extra for every 25 pounds you want to lose.

It looks a tasty menu that only needs a little tweaking to be right - well done
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

      Re: New Again

      ooops....8 - 8 oz glasses of water

2 packets of sweetener (but I'll keep the 3 packet limit in mind)

the Jello was sweetened with aspartame (never seen any with splenda) so I'll not have any more of that.

have to look at the vegie list again ( old time WW'er eat lots of vegie mentality) the levels always confused me.

      Thanks

I'll post again later with a new menu using these suggestions
