  • Symptoms due to foods?

I am having diarhea and an upset stomach.(have been on induciton for 4 days) Could I not be eating the right things, or enough of something? Here is what I have had so far today:

Break: Omlet w/mushrooms,spinach, saugage, green peper

Lunch: slice of cleese (peper jack)
    mustard
    chicken

spinach salid with 1/2 avacado and ranch dressing

    Super: (haven't ate yet)

So far I have had 46 oz of water. Thank you, I expected the tired and the headache, and the ditzy, yet not this.

It could be Induction Flu...everyone's reaction is different. If the diarhea goes on for more than two days you should see your doctor.
Did you eat much veggies before you started Atkins? Sometimes people who didn't have many veggies in their diet will have tummy troubles when they introduce them.
Are you staying within your veggie limits according to the book?
Take a moment to read the sticky in this forum about posting a menu. It's easier to help you when we know exactly how much you've eaten.
Your menu looks good though and it's really good to see you spreading your veggies out through the day like that.

Are you using Fitday? Here's a link to help you if you aren't:

I would also claim Induction flu - I had already been eating pretty low GI when I started Atkins, so I didn't experience much of the Induction flue, but when I did have it, diarhea was my only symptom. It will pass, don't worry.

Another thought just came to mind I also started taking Centrum car assist vitamins, and I had a Diet Rite. So mabey it is one of them?? I am saying the vitamin, it has been years since I have taken a vitamin. What do you think?

I've never heard of a vitamin pill having that effect.

I'll ask you again..did you eat this many veggies before starting Atkins? Are you staying within your veggie limits these last few days with the proper amounts from the two lists? Is this a question of all of a sudden having a lot of vegetables in your diet?

And again, if this lasts for more than a few days, go see your doctor. Make sure you are getting your 64+oz of water in so you aren't getting dehydrated due to the diarhea.

Mochie, I ate veggies all the time befor atkins. I try to have atleast one salid and just other veggies in my morning eggs or a veggie side dish for supper. Mabey it was because I was getting sick? Yesterday I was fine, but today I have a horrible sinus heac ache and it is dropping in my chest. I am also groggy so I am going to just drink alot today and rest a bit. Yet the kids are home....

            Can we have chicken broth?

Oh, ya I had that NASTIE just drink lots of water and try to rest if you can basically your body is detoxifying the sugar and bacteria out of your body. Bacteria and yeast feeds on sugar and so when you take that away you get die off from that and you get severe diarreah AKA induction flu. I hope you feel better. You're doing great just stick it out this too will PASS> EWWWWW!!

And yes, you can have chicken broth!
Throw some grated ginger and garlic into the broth and simmer it for a while...it's very good for you.

As with anything, including chicken broth, count the carbs if there are any.

If you are using canned chicken broth, try and buy the low-sodium. Avoid the powdered mixes because they'll have all sorts of nasty things in them that you don't need.
Better to make your own if you are able to.

I found that out about the chicken broth! I went to our local health food store and got a salt free variety. Yet it taste horrible. Is there something you put in your chicken broth to spice it up a bit, but still keep it broth? Mabey a hint of tabasco? hmmm it was horrible!!
