  • My menu on Friday

    slept in on Friday...

    Brunch --
    2 scrambled eggs
    3 strips turkey bacon
    2 strips regular bacon

    Late-afternoon snack--
    3 hard-boiled eggs

    Dinner
    * veal (8 oz. uncooked)
    * cooked veal in canola (quantity unknown) oil & lemon juice (2 teaspoons)
    * garlic, marjoram, sage, thyme, & parsley (didn't measure)
    * broccoli, steamed, 1 cup (measured before cooking)
    * hollondaise sauce on the veal & the broccoli (home-made from egg yolks, lemon juice (1 T.), & non-hydrog. margarine) <-- legal ingredients
    * salad of romaine & greenleaf lettuces (2 cups)

For another snack I had some leftover cooked chicken from another day. The chicken had been sauted in canola oil & garlic. I didn't measure the chicken.

By the way, this is first time I had had lemon juice.

Looks good except you need to try to spread out your veggies over 3 meals. Not have them all at dinner. Have you had enough water?

Gracenote, you don't need to measure the spices, they are on the Acceptable List. Now what we can't eat are those packaged things like taco seasoning etc as they often have sugar and starch in them. Lemon juice is fine as long as you limit it to 2-3 Tablespoons a day. Doesn't look like you came even close.
Your doing fantastic, but try to spread out those veggies, especially if you notice any cravings after your dinner. I add mushrooms to my eggs, I generally have a small side salad for lunch, and a veggie with dinner.

Ok, I'm a little confused on this point because some of you say that I don't need to measure spices, but others of you say that the carbs in the spices will sneak up on me.

Also, I will work on spreading out the veggies, but it's hard. I don't usually eat veggies for breakfast, and when I eat a salad, I usually want a big one.

well that depends on how much you use. I was shocked when I plugged my version of BAM into the recipecal.com site and found out it had almost 3 per T so yes they can sneak up on you if you use them a lot. if you use a dash then it will be minimal. Some spices have more carbs then others too.

You really want every bite that goes in your mouth on your fitday food page cause you'd be surprised how many sneaky carbs you can have if you don't. like munching on veggies while you fix the meal and didn't list them a jicama slice snack. a finger full of OWL nut butter and soon you are posting a I'm stalled or worse I've gained and nobody can help you cause if you don't post it we don't know you had too many carbs and exceeded your CCLL and will be running you ragged tweaking your plan in other places.
